Rangers did a nice evening talk. Campground isn't what it used to be as it loses more grass due to heavy use.

Amazing campground in Capital Reef NP. We stayed here during apricot harvest and the apricot orchards were directly behind our campsite. You're free to eat off the tree if in harvest. Capital Reef is a dark sky park and it shows. In the middle of the night the Milky Way is clearly visible. Simply beautiful campground.

I'm hesitant to share how amazing this space is if only because I selfishly want to make sure I can always come but WOW. This place is truly an oasis (the whole park is). If you're lucky enough to get a spot here, plan a whole trip out of it and you won't be disappointed. Fresh baked fruit pies from the orchards, deer 10 feet away from you snacking and minding their own business, horses in the nearby field, and at the right time of year you can see the Milky Way clear as day with your own eyes. I will say, the bats fly VERY low at night and live in the trees at the campground so do NOT leave white lights out because the moths will be attracted to it and you'll accidentally create a bat feeding frenzy like we did. It was a bit of a nightmare but the only one!

Very nice campground on grounds of the original homestead lands...old cabins, corals, fruit orchards, wild turkeys and deer wandering thru. However there is NO cell signal for ATT, Verizon or T mobile. Has dumpsters, flush toilets, water, RV dump. However..this cg needs a good wifi network!

Yes it does. Please reserve spots in advance.
I did see people using portable showers in Fruita Campground a few times.
The scenic road past the campground passes between two rock structures before you get to the lot where you can turn around, I wouldn't try it with lots of other cars around, but most RV's can probably still do it.
As of this year they are reservation only. You can reserve at reservation.gov $20 a night
Reservations are made at Recreation.gov. log into your account and it should pop right up.
Fruita Campground is now reservable on recreation.gov. There are only a few sites that are open first come first serve. That said, yes you can put a tent and rv on any site that accommodates them as long as you have less than 8 people total.
You can't reserve there, it is first come first serve.
