Inn Off Capitol Park, Ascend Hotel Collection

This is a cool hotel! Right in downtown Sacramento, it's easy walking distance to numerous good restaurants. Parking is an issue. There's not much of it, and it's first come, first served. I just parked and left my car there. From check-in, you go up to the rooms in a cool little elevator, which opens up to a common area with lots of seating. All the rooms look out to this area. It's nice and quiet. The rooms are what might be the biggest issue for some people. They're small. For me, I was there by myself for work, so no biggie. It was perfect. They're rather nice, especially considering this is an older hotel. So despite a couple drawbacks that were very minor for me, I'd definitely stay here again.

Despite some of the reviews I read online being that this hotel was old and smelled like mildew, I did not experience that at all. It is updated. I was pleasantly surprised that also despite the check in to be 3:00pm that the front desk checked me in early so that I could get rest. Seriously, it was a gift from God! The room was so comfortable- it included a mini fridge and microwave. There also was a Keurig! I loved the set up of the room!

The room is small so be ready to make use of the bed and table for counter space. The atrium has a greenhouse effect so it may get muggy. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently placed downtown so a lot of places are walkable.

Plus is the hotel is conveniently located near the state Capitol with numerous restaurants to choose from. Rooms are cozy and comfortable. Main drawback is parking. First come, first serve. About 15 parking spots for 30 hotel rooms. If full, the only option is to park on the street. Also, rooms facing the street are subject to street noise. So if you are a light sleeper, this won’t be good.
