Building looks nice. I called thinking I could donate something, the lady I spoke with said I couldn't but she was very nice and gave me a number where I could take the item. I've literally never seen any kids here though, even before Covid but I don't drive past too often.

I'm angered over the fact that it's closing. They're pushing children away back without the atmosphere they need that the children's home offered them.

I lived at the home for my 4 years of high school, and my brother graduated the year after me. I enlisted in the Air Force and 4 years later transferred to the Marine Corps. I was a weather forecaster in both services, mostly briefing pilots on their missions. I served in Vietnam twice, as an Airman and a Marine. I retired in 1988 and spent 14 years coaching track and cross-country at our high school and junior high in California. For the last 17 years I have worked at the gym on a Marine base, also in California. My older brother attended the US Coast Guard Academy and the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA. My younger brother retired from the Air Force. I have a daughter and three sons. My daughter graduated from Wells College in NYS, and spent 21/2 years in Honduras as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Two of my sons served in the Marine Corp in Afghanistan and Iraq. My oldest son is the General Manager of our local water district. My youngest son is a 90% disability from Afghanistan and now works as a heavy equipment operator. The middle son is a supervisor for the San Bernardino City Water District (202,000 + customers). If you work at the home in some capacity, it's all about giving, not getting. The people back then certainly believed in those ideals.

This organization that states that they are for children and families, but has no problem putting 60 to 70 employees on unemployment? Then announces agency wide that it "was not a financial decision but a decision made in the best interest of children and families"! Who's children? Who's families? This was certainly not in the best interest of the families affected by this selfish decision! The absolute audacity! Shame on you Karen Richmond!!

My cousin went there & a few years later went back to tell his staff thank you for helping him. He said he actually enjoyed his time there. They do all kinds of activities with the kids its not like a kids jail. They even have like a cooking club & stuff for them.
