Our recommendation is to stop here before you do anything else in Medora! We very much enjoyed the history we learned by the self-guided tour enhanced by the volunteers.

Nice historical house with some interesting history. It’s a self guided tour with a couple workers who will answer questions if you have any.

Interesting, a slice of history about the wealthy and privileged class out of their element. Great home tour and the interpretive center was very informative.

Why list as open when closed October - May? Interpretive Center is just a gift shop.

Daniel Scherer | Sep 29, 2018
Chris Dorfschmidt | Sep 29, 2018

The Interpretive Center is open year round. It is not just a gift shop, but it also has two galleries. One is on the family and their time in North Dakota. The other is a traveling gallery that is currently featuring an exhibit on the CCC and their work in North Dakota. The Chateau itself is closed during the winter months as it is not heated and is too cold for a reasonable tour. Because the house is not open during the winter, they do offer a discount in price to see the galleries.
