No laptop adapter is going to reach 1/2 mile, that is just not how it works. For that level of range you need a directional antenna hooked up to an ubiquiti access point, prefferably hooked up to another access point to retransmit WiFi to your Mac. And even then you need direct line of sight, a house or a few trees in the way and forget it.

The easiest way to answer this question would be to call the store itself and ask the exact question you have here. They have a constantly updating system to determine if something is in or out if stock, and whoever answers the phone should be able to look that up immediately.
