Searching for a new dog is exciting and frustrating and we were looking for a smaller dog. I got approved pretty fast but the dog at the shelter did not like my male dog at all. This was about 8 months ago. I decided I wanted another young dog but I had pretty definite size requirements. I did have to reapply. At the beginning of the week there were 2 little dogs but they got adopted quickly. I emailed to cancel because we cant take a larger dog and she requested just to keep my appointment because she had some "littles" coming in. She emailed me the next night with pics of a chihuahua spaniel mix and we had a meet and greet and took her home the next day. The level of communication was excellent, she isn't fixed but they will take care of that and her heartworm test next week. (She was wild at the time of intake) . We have named her Sable aka Sebby and she has fit right in. She is about a year old, and the perfect size for us. She loves going for walks, is a lover (licking machine!) and enjoys playing with toys. The staff here will work with you regarding your pet preferences. Be patient and you will find the companion youre looking for. Highly recommend. Pics of Sebby passed out after her first day and just looking cute.

Not a kind answer Kar Ma; you are unaware of the circumstances
Sure can they always take donations
Definitely! I've taken my daughter a few times!
Delaware County humane society
You will have to contact the Humane Society. They typically have a waiting list to surrender pets.
Hairless cats are extremely rare breed. They are rarely surrendered and tend to be adopted very quickly. But the humane society may have short haired cats that could suit your needs.
8:30 time is correct. Noon openings are for non clinic needs
Yes . $25 only during Tuesday Morning Clinic open to the public.
Thanks for asking. All dogs receive age appropriate vaccines, have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and checked by the shelter veterinarian prior to adoption. The HSDC website may be able to answer most of your questions. The website is hsdcohio.org
I've never adopted from the humane society. I get my cats fixed & vaccinated there. I'm sure if you call them, they'll be able to tell you.
Call ahead. They have normal business hours outside of visiting time

Thanks for asking about opportunities to volunteer. The PAWS Volunteer Program is open to children between 12 - 15 with a parent accompanying them at all times. More information about our program and requirements is available on our website at www.hsdcohio.org
You can check their website for available pets!
Hi Robert. We are sorry that it is time to say goodbye to your dog. We do provide euthanasia services, which includes cremation and return of the cremains. We are currently limited on our hours and clinic staffing so please call the shelter to set up an appointment. 7403697387. If we do not answer, please leave a message and a staff member will call you back to discuss details. We know how difficult it can be to say goodbye. Our thoughts are with you.
Hi Gil. Thank you for asking. The adoption price for an adult dog (one year and older) is $150. The adoption price for a puppy (under one year) is $250. If you are a resident of Delaware County, the dog license is an additional $12. There is a wealth of information available on our website at www.hsdcohio.org. We hope you will stop in soon to visit our furry friends!
Go to their website and they leave very good instructions You need an appointment, bring medical records and a cat carrier. They want to do right by you, the cat and the new cat owner. Good luck!
We do have a few dog houses that are available. You can select from our supply and make a donation to help us provide care for the animals. We also have a few bales of straw to ensure adequate bedding is provided. We always encourage, and prefer that pets live in the home as a loving member of a family but understand there are times when that is not possible. Please let us know if we can be of assistance in any way.
Thank you for asking. The HSDC does have a pet food bank for Delaware county residents who are in need of assistance. Please contact the shelter at 7403697387 for information and assistance.
The humane society employees will most likely not see this. Give them a call a speak to a representative about the situation.
Called and left VM. Do you know if I need to live in Delaware? Im between Delawear and Morrow county.
Prices are much better than with any vet. The staff is very friendly and does a wonderful job.
Thank you for asking. If the dog was adopted from the HSDC, the animal can be returned to us for any reason. Otherwise, we do not take dogs that have a bite history.
If you still have the min pin I might be able to take her

To Google user I'm sorry for your son's loss. I'm looking for a dog and wondered if he still has it? I'm not sure how they do it.
Thanks Ranjan I know what you are saying I miss having a puppy. Recently I had to put my dog of 10 years down, due to health problems. I live on a super tight budget and at the end of the month I don't have $200 for the adoption fee. I'm a US Navy veteran but I also have health problems. One of them is severe depression and I know the one thing that will help exponentially is a New puppy. I have a doctor's prescription for a dog to help my depression. The only way I can get a puppy is to skip paying a bill. Wish me luck in fulfilling my dream of getting a new puppy.
Best would be to get there again.
Yes, you should call in to set up a time though. Weekends can get crazy sometimes.
Not so much the sheets, the pets tend to eat those, however, definitely the towels and comforters.
Just walk in and tell them what you are looking for. No appointment necessary
Not sure? Jana is the director for the Delaware Humane society. It'd definitely be worth asking
I would call the shelter and talk with them. Sometimes they may have funds available to help.
Any donations are appreciated
On special days, keep an eye out for it.
I highly doubt it, you may have to go-to a vet for that.
Check the website, and if all else fails call ahead.
Yes, they do. My condolences for your loss.
Most generally, they let you know of any vaccinations your pet gets before you adopt them.
It's always a good idea to have your cat vaccinated prior to the surgery. They will also do blood draws, at a small additional fee to make sure your kitty is healthy. The vaccines and blood draws can be done at their low cost clinic on Tuesdays from 8:30 AM- 1:30 PM. No appointment is necessary for the exam and vaccines. However, you will have to make an appointment for the spay/neuter.
The Humane Society of Delaware County is a limited intake shelter. By controlling how quickly animals come in to the shelter, we are able to keep them until they find a home. We do not euthanized for time limits or lack of space.
