I went to check out the kittens up for adoption. They had a group of 5 kittens for "fostering". I took a little guy (12 weeks old) he will get vaccinated later this month and once he weighs over 2 pounds he will be neutered, I will pay a $100 adoption fee at that time then he is all ours. The staff was very helpful and explained everything to me. More kittens becoming available soon. We named him Pixel calling him Pix for short

Everyone was so helpful and as eager to please as the pets they have there. Even though I am in deep mourning for the baby I lost, they called me with the info I gave them previously, and now I have Jinks.

I love this dog but he wasn't at all what his bio said he was. Nonetheless his training is coming along and my son loves him. Nice facility.

http://members.petfinder.com/~CA469/files/TheTenWorstExcusesNotToSpayOrNeuterYourPet.pdf Unfortunately in our area, I think the lack of affordable services is the biggest reason people do not spay and neuter their pets.
I have not adopted from there and I am unaware of current prices but I'm sure they are reasonable and you'll know your new friend will be updated on all shots and such. I'm glad to hear your considering adoption as rescue pets make the best and most lovingly loyal buddies to be had. Best hopes to your search. The staff there seem very nice and Tyler would be happy to answer any of your questions I'm sure.
