Wilma, We do not offer vaccinations at our shelter; however, we do have a public assistance program for spay/neuter services. Some local veterinarians offer low-cost vaccine clinics during special times, but you may want to check their website or call to confirm their clinic days and hours. If you have any questions or would like more information, just let us know! (707) 442-1782
We do accept towels, and some other bedding materials. Unfortunately, human pillows and comforters with stuffing or "fluff" we cannot use in the shelter.
Yes. Call police dept. Or Sequoia Humane Society, or Arcata Animal hospital. All will be helpful! Thanks for caring!
Hi there! Yes you can volunteer at the age of 12 however you would need to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 who is also a volunteer. Currently we are not having volunteer activities at the shelter or the stores due to county health restrictions however we are working on a different system that will work better with the new normal. Thank you so much for your interest and we do hope to see you when we are able to accommodate having volunteer activities back!
There is a difference between service animals and companion animal, make sure you find out which is which.
Sequoia Humane Society does not have the ability to take stray dogs because we are not one of Humboldt County's impound facilities. Depending on where the animal is found, the animal would need to go to the Humboldt County Animal Shelter or to Miranda's Rescue. If you are not sure which jurisdiction the animal falls under, you can call your local sheriff's office and they can help direct you further.
We do! Please call the shelter at (707) 442-1782 for more information, and we can explain the process in detail.
Call a vet or animal shelter for the phone number to change info. Take a found pet to a vet or animal shelter to scan the chip for you.
This is an adoption shelter. You should try calling them tomorrow and ask if they know anyone offering that service
My dear friend Jerry Howard rescued tropical birds. When he died a year or so ago, all thirty of his birds went to Miranda’s Rescue. You should try them, as I’m sure they have not all been adopted out yet.
They are a no kill shelter, so no. But if your pet is very sick, I'm sure they could tell you where to go.
