Lots of variety of fish to catch here & plenty of areas along the bank to access the water. Make sure you have your license because they do check. Highly recommend!

Fun place to go tubing or kayak down the river. Can also go back upstream fairly easy if you want to go alone.

Is this a good place to take little kids swimming? If not, where is a better place for kids to play in the river?

The Neuse is a city river. Runoff contributes to its pollution which is why there are warning signs all along the river against eating its fish. I wouldn't play in it whether it's low and slow or not.
