Great hike. Beautiful place. The drive there gets a little tricky the last 7 miles or so. One lane for 2 way traffic and very deep pot holes. Not complaining just giving you the heads up. Totally worth the trip. Just beautiful!

No..too many roots. Better to wear a back pack to bring a child.
Siouxon Creek can be very dangerous in late summer, e g. August. The rocks in the creek bottom are very slippery and the water can be very swift. Be careful!
No, you do not need any pass to park here. (The Discover Pass is for state DNR lands and this trailhead is part of the National Forest. And no NW forest pass is required here either: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=32124 )
I think if you go the whole way its at least 8 miles, but you should look it up to make sure. There is a map, and start early, we were late, so we had to turn back. Google it and take the map with you, it has directions.
