The trail is very nice with many different waterfalls along. The burnt down forest which covers much of the beginning of the trail ruined all the beauty the forest had. Nice place overall. If you are here for photography, it's not a fave spot and you would have to go for many miles to get to the Chinook falls which is the tallest. The rain dumped for ours getting us soaked, but that's the average PNW. Worth it though.

Great hike. Beautiful place. The drive there gets a little tricky the last 7 miles or so. One lane for 2 way traffic and very deep pot holes. Not complaining just giving you the heads up. Totally worth the trip. Just beautiful!

Fantastic hike with great views of the creek and all of the water walls. Tons of well established campsites on the water. Well maintained trail and decent sized parking area but get there early.

Absolutely gorgeous area of the Cascades. A moderate trail that runs more or less parallel to Siouxon Creek. Plenty of areas to camp at, some sites can support large groups. Tons of swimming holes and prepare yourself for chilly water. Last visit made the trek more difficult by creating a loop, connecting to Chinook and Wildcat trails. Wildcat Trail, depending on how far you venture up before turning back down to cross Siouxon Creek to complete the loop can be difficult. The trail is raw and evidence of non routine maintenance is apparent. Have fun and don't forget to take care of your TP!

No..too many roots. Better to wear a back pack to bring a child.
Siouxon Creek can be very dangerous in late summer, e g. August. The rocks in the creek bottom are very slippery and the water can be very swift. Be careful!
No, you do not need any pass to park here. (The Discover Pass is for state DNR lands and this trailhead is part of the National Forest. And no NW forest pass is required here either: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=32124 )
There trail is 12 miles long according to the forest service website. But, the main trailhead at the end of forest road 5701 bypasses the first couple of miles. Download the PDF map at https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=31636 or visit monument headquarters in Amboy. They have printed maps with typed descriptions of several area hikes at the front desk.
That's a question better suited for your hiking partner.
