Love the pools. Two things they could improve on: 1) I wish they had some snack/drink options available for purchase by the pool. 2) I had a deep tissue massage here back in Dec 2018 and it was *fantastic.* This time in May 2022, the deep tissue was probably the worst I’ve ever had—she never focused in a single spot and moved around my back frenetically, she continually pumped *way* too much oil into her hands and then rubbed my scalp (felt unnecessarily greasy as someone who gets a massage pretty frequently). Worst of all, didn’t turn her phone to silent so halfway through the massage she received a phone call at full volume. I think I left this massage feeling more stressed and tense than when I went in. Probably going to skip this one and check out a different hot spring next time.

I've stayed in Calistoga many times over the years along with my 2 daughters, including this 3 star hotel, on several previous occasions. This trip was disappointing. At this price point for rooms, there should be an abundance of time to enjoy the pools during daylight hours. With a check in of 3-3:30 pm the day of the stay and and 11 am checkout the next day, there was not enough time to simply relax in and enjoy the amenities when that bright Calistoga sun is shining. Rooms were disappointing. Noisy wall unit for air conditioning. Lots of noise all night long from the pool side (because the pool is open until 11 pm) and the street side of the building, especially if you are on the 1st floor and near the supply room. I found the staff to be perfunctory and more concerned with what is not possible than with simply allowing guests to enjoy their stay: penny wise pound foolish management because I will never stay here again. Plenty of other places to stay, so take advantage of those and avoid this one.

As a massage therapist, I love experiencing services at places around the globe. I did the volcanic mud bath which flowed very well and was an excellent value for the money. Followed by a massage and then a dip in the hot springs with dinner between. The service practitioners wonderful, which is the main value. Coming from out of town, the front desk explained how to easily get food between my services etc. Very well run. This was back in 2015.

Wonderful hot springs, and the people that worked there were all very kind, but the rooms were disappointing. Super loud heating/cooling wall units that keep you from sleeping deeply, and very hard beds. The amenities in the room also felt like they were from a cheap motel too.
