This home was VERY rude over the phone. I was calling to just get some information and the desk said "yeah I don't think we would have time for that." I couldn't believe how rude they were.

I felt that the executive director was purposely singling out my mother, she is the only person of color in the community. On 2 separate occasions he failed to acknowledge her presence while speaking to everyone else around her. After speaking with him, he has apologized to her and said that it wasn't his intentions to ignore her. The manager called me to resolve all my concerns.

Beware!!! RUN the other way! This review takes place over just a 2.5mo time frame, only 2.5mos! Where to start this review? I guess I'll start when you walk in the doors, the receptionist is consistently rude and unprofessional both by phone and in-person. There is no apparent professional dress code being upheld and/or enforced as I'm sure on several occasions she was wearing her PJs at work, no, I'm not kidding! The unprofessionalism in this facility runs deep and surprisingly starts at the top; as we would soon find out. Admissions, S***y, she is never available, when you call all you will get is her vm and you rarely get a call back! After 3wks of trying to schedule a tour with her we finally had to just do a walk-in tour without an appointment and had to be toured by someone in the medicaid department that couldn't answer any of our admission questions. Medicaid/medicare, they will promise to help you and your loved one through the qualifying process; however constant turnover in employees makes it nearly impossible to determine where your application is in the process, documents being lost, poor communication, no accountability with staff and/or administration. Nurse liason A***ly, same communication, doesn't return calls. Gave us her cell number and assured us she returns calls, nope, she doesn't return calls either. In a 2mo period she never once answered the cell number she gave us. After numerous staff changes, lost, documents, miscommunications, missed appointments/calls and family meetings etc, we had to call Capitol Healthcare in an attempt to reach someone in leadership with some accountability and ethics, what we got was an extremely defensive, argumentative and unprofessional Administrator C*****l, she's a joke. She set up conference calls with us to discuss our legitimate concerns, then she "forgot" and was angry with us that she "dropped the ball" (her words). She claims there is no one above her (she is the judge, jury and executioner) and she apparently signs her own paychecks. She talks a really big game but yet she hasn't mastered something as simple and professional as time management, setting reminders and respect for other people's time! Hopefully this review all makes sense now, the lack of professionalism and accountability at the top is exactly what is displayed throughout this facility. Attitude reflects leadership! This management company should really have this facility secret-shopped on every level!

Do you accept people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia ? If so how is your facility set up are females and male separated aisles?

Veronica Artis | Sep 27, 2019
Zach Mills | Sep 27, 2019

Yes, we care for individuals throughout the stages of Alzheimer's and dementia. Typically there is no division on the units between men and women. If they are in a shared room we do keep those gender specific (men with men), but we do have a number of married couples in our building that share their room with each other.

Can someone from out of town spend the night

Marie Copley | Sep 27, 2019
Scioto Community | Sep 27, 2019

Thank you Marie for the question! Here at Scioto Community we have a few policies in place when someone wants to stay with a family member. If your loved one is in a semi private (shared) room, we cannot allow family to spend the night. If they are in a private or hospice room, we allow family members to spend the night. Please be aware, these situations are something we have to monitor closely. Please reach out to our Administrator at (614) 491-2000 if you have any additional questions!
