This hotel was the last stop of a 7 day road trip. Out of all 4 Hilton properties we visited on our trip, this was the worst. While the front desk staff was very nice, the room itself needs attention. It was a bit run down and the air conditioner vent rattled all night. The beds were comfy so that was at least one decent thing. However, the bathroom was disgusting. Long dark hair on the shower walls. Layers of soap scum. Unidentifiable gunk on the outside of the tub. Rust stains streaking the walls from the dilapidated grab bar. Stains in the bottom of the tub. The drain wouldn’t stay open. I immediately chatted the hotel through the Hilton app. Still waiting on a response 2 weeks later. I called the front desk and was told the housekeepers were all gone but they’d make a note in my account. The next morning, I went to the front desk and rather than a refund being issued right then, I was given the business card of the Assistant General Manager, Mark Cacal, and told to call him. I sent Mr. Cacal an email and included the pictures of the nasty bathroom. 2 days later he responded that he was sorry and would issue me a full refund. I waited. And waited. A week later, I sent him another email because I was charged for the full amount of the stay. He ignored it. I waited another 2 days and he has yet to respond or refund the night. So much for the Hampton guarantee. I worked for Hilton previously. I would have never let a guest leave my property unhappy and paying full price for the filth we encountered. I literally had to clean the walls before we could shower. Poorly done, Mr. Cacal. I intend to reach out to the actual GM and to Hilton Corporate. Richmond is a beautiful town. Just don’t stay at this property. Pictures of the bathroom and my chat are here for your viewing pleasure. Mr. Cacal, I’ll be waiting for your apology and my refund.

First of all the staff was great. They bent over backwards to make my stay as great as they possibly could, and smoothed over and administrative difficulty with as much effort power as they could muster. The rooms themselves were great and were pretty clean and well-tended. The breakfast provided was better than average. The common areas were not kept as clean as what I would like to see. The cleaning crew was a bit on the loud side. The only other bad thing I would say is that the downtown Richmond area is not very nice, in general. I think the locals try hard, but there are a lot of vagrants sleeping all over the place, and for such a small town, it seems like they could try a little bit harder to work against vagrancy. I definitely felt like I had to keep my head on a swivel, because it was a little bit more on the edgy side than what I am used to.

Just stayed 1 evening but the property was quite nice. Front desk was able to check me in early, not always an option but nice when it is. Room was clean, though the shower needed some extra TLC. Location was amazing. Walked to the Waffle shop, Poe museum, the National and the canal walk. All just a few blocks away. Would definitely stay again!

Positive: Consistent standards. We have stayed here before. Really liked that you had to request hospitality services. Kept exposure rate low. Negative: Honestly, regardless of everything above, if I would have know that the staff was going to be maskless, I would have found another hotel.
