The park is a beautiful spot. I was greated by the host and led to my campground. He made pretty regular rounds making sure everyone was good. Most views have trees in the way but if you go to the small cove with water access you have a clear view of the mountains. The biggest downside for me was the ability to hear traffic noise, not a lot but the occasional roar of a motorcycle would be loud and clear. The path down to the lake was step so would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The bathrooms were older but clean enough and plentiful.

Very quiet, clean campground with an amazing and friendly host named John. We were hoping to camp near the water and put our kayaks into the lake near our campsite, but there are no campsites with beaches to drop in. There is, however, a very nice boat ramp nearby. Most campsites are not private and next to the road loop. The best campsite is 17, if you can get it, but there are many steps to walk to it. No reservations and cash or check for payment.

Place is fairly well maintained. Very convenient to boat ramp and beach. Showers we had, the lightening and fan did not operate. I had to take a flashlight in to shower. Poor drainage in dressing area after getting poo ut of shower. Sites are well maintained and everyone was friendly.

Most tent sites are shaded and others are depended on time of day. There are secluded sites and more open sites. Nice camp ground
Yes, there are several paths that lead down to the water's edge. We used these for parking the boats, but fishing, swimming, parking boats: it all works.
I don't know about pets but they to accept the access pass. You can register online so you might find information about pets there
We were able to plug our RV in at the campsite we stayed at a few weeks ago.
Check-in is at any time and I'm pretty sure check out is by noon
I don't believe so given that you have to make reservations through the state park service.
No. Centralized building, you can see in pics. Maintained well when I visited.
To clarify answers - there is a boat ramp next to the campground, but not in the campground. About a quarter mile.
There are picnic tables under a pavilion. Also grills.
You can have dogs there. Not sure about cancellation policy but it is one the web
I am pretty sure that Cheoah point campground will close the first of November.
There is no water hookup for RVs, there is only electricity. They have water pumps located throughout the site
I had a similar problem so I arrived as early as I could.
Walk up tent sites are just that "walk up only". The are RV stores that can be reserved on the website.
Yes they do. I assumed because all the reserveable sites were taken a month in advance, that the first come first serve sites would be scarce. I left Raleigh at 4am and managed to grab a site at 10am last Friday morning (mid June). All the other sites were occupied. I feel lucky!
