When I was initially looking for a Storage unit this place stood out due to their location and especially their price. $89 a month plus $9 for Insurance ($98 Total) was the best price I could find in town for a 10x10 unit. After 4 month of renting the unit with no problems my rent was unexpectedly increased to $110 Total per month. When I called and asked why the rent Increased the gentlemen informed me that I should expect a rent increase every 6 months. I asked if there was a way to sign some sort of lease agreement to lock in this price and he informed me that there was not and that all units are subject to this increase every 6 months. I asked if there was a price cap or if my rent would increase indefinitely every 6 months and he informed me that there was no price cap he was aware of. After getting off the phone I decided to check their website to see the current price of a 10x10 unit. The 10x10 unit was priced at $89 per month, just as it was when I initially obtained my unit. I feel as though this is a predatory business model. Entice the buyer in with low cost and then raise the rent every 6 months with no price cap wile still offering the base price to new customers. Luckily I can afford this at the present moment but if my rent continues to rise I will likely need to find a new storage center because I plan on needing my things stored for much longer than 6 months. I understand the economy is currently going into a recession and rent increases are sometimes necessary for a business. It just doesn't make sense to increase the rent for existing customers while offering new customers a lower rate. You'd think they would increase the price for new customers before raising the price for loyal customers that always pay on time like myself. 4 Stars because the staff is outstandingly kind, the property is kept very clean, & I have never felt as though my things were in jeopardy of theft. Minus 1 star for the corporate enterprise using a shady business model. Overall I would recommend this place for short term storage but if you need to store your things longer than a year I would recommend looking for somewhere without variable rates.
