So disappointing, I should of called but it would be my word only! I came in this last Friday to pick up a premade cake in the case & 1st off the clerk was extremely rude! What you do you want um...how about hi may I help you, the store wasn't busy & the other customer was already being helped! I asked for a white bread basket cake w/white shavings & fruit in the center, SHE DIDN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHICH WERE WHICH, & unable to answer my questions either. As she grabbed the cake out of the case she turned around to box it up & I said may I please get a message on my cake after the EYE ROLL, she wrote my message & boxed it up, & I paid! You'd think this was the end to awful service nope after dinner sang happy birthday served cake & mind you our family aims to eat at least a bread basket cake as often as possible, but this will probably be our last! The frosting is different then before & the cream in between was so thick as well we have never had such an awful cake from here, not to mention the fruit that was rotten & soft inside as if it been sitting there for quite some time! With the price that's charged for these cakes you'd think better pride in quality & customer service would be taken & given. Looks like we will stick w/ our cakes from Vons less expencsive & taste so much better. Goes to show just because it cost more doesn't mean it will taste better! Lesson be learned buyer BEWARE!

What a sad bakery now.. We used to rave over this company for years. They did my family and our family's wedding cakes. We referred them to every friend of ours and only bought cakes from here for all birthdays. We had heard the downfall of the cakes here and purchased a cake just three months ago just to see, let me tell you it was true. We have been using Whole Foods now which is way way better. Unfortunately, Whole Foods has horrible carrot cake so we decided to give Bread Basket another try for my birthday. Below are the pictures of the carrot cake. It literal had two small layers of carrot cake probably an inch thick, the inside had at least three inches of vanilla moose and the outside was three inches of cream cheese frosting. Everyone pieced apart the cake and ate the two tiny pieces of cake and left all the rest of moose and cream cheese. Very sad for a $70 cake and 3/4 of it was not edible. I have never seen a cake that doesn't have cake. I do have hope that the bad reviews change this companies trajectory so we can start using them again. Until then, I will never buy anything here again.

I really wanted to like these especially since it’s local and I just moved to Camarillo and miss my DC bakery haunts. Unf, the chocolate slice of cake I bought was not worth the cost at all. The cake slice was dry, way too much frosting to cover up the actual flavor of the cake (which was stale anyway), and the flavor of the chocolate was just… off. On the other hand, the red velvet cupcake was delish— but way too cost-prohibitive (over $8.00 for a cupcake!?!)

The pastries and cakes out here are amazing. They are quite expensive though so choose wisely.
