Clean organized facility. I would not recommend bringing your pet at all. When you are experiencing a hard time you do not need any extra issues pushing you over the edge. Noah’s animal house is terrible in so many ways. Staff and rules are ridiculous and will change to suit their needs. No one needs this during tuff times.

This place is so crowded, and they insist people who are not on medication start going to a psychiatrist and get on medication that makes them worse 👀 plus if you accidentally leave your sweater on a table and that’s your only sweater, they throw it out🤨 it almost feels like jail.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. When residing you’ll be treated like a criminal with no rights. The staff needs additional training in harm reduction and what is truly means to be a low bearer shelter. Forget about donations because either the staff has taken them or you won’t even know they existed. My heart hurts knowing donors give generous amounts of money to this organization and not woman can say their life has changed for the better. Security are police cadets rejects that will harass women every chance they have ( a true joke). Re-traumatizing folks is done on a regular and if you think you have a voice forget! Staff is hardly around and is hiding out in “meetings” until it’s time to exit someone. Please make every effort to find shelter elsewhere before surrendering yourself to this facility.

Was there 7mos. Would not recommend to others. Needs Personnel Changes.

Give it to the ladies as you see them leaving between 8-10am
Did you find a place? They have day shelter where you can eat and shower. They'll help you but be prepared to feel like you're in jail.
I would say park outside or down the street from the shelter and physically hand any gifts to the women and kids entering and exiting. Do not go thru the staff. Tell them Merry Christmas w a smile and u will get your donation to the people who NEED it. Not greedy shelter staff. Believe me, I lived here when I was 15 in 2000! Staff is corrupt, residents are normal people like anywhere else.
They do take products like this. However, I would recommend giving things directly to the woman in the shelter. That would guarantee the women receive it.
I deal with that stuff everyday. no excuse to be rude to people experiencing trauma. be rude at home or after work hours.
I'm wondering the same. I've heard of very poor living conditions there so it's hard to try them out because I'm not trying to get sick from mold or unsanitary environments.
Sad to say, this shelter is very disorderly when it comes to communication. Just go directly to the shelter in the mornings or after 5pm to drop off. No one will pick up. Salvation Army works in conjunction with the shelter so call them and arrange for the items to be given to the shelter. If you happen to know anyone or anyone who knows someone who can re-vamp and gentrify the shelter, please let me know or speak to the housing authority about suggesting a better communication channel in order to help those in need. Shade tree ALWAYS will need good business clothes. But remember, The Shade tree is for WOMEN, CHILDREN and PETS. Not men. Men will either be at Salvation Army or around the corner at the Catholic Charities Office. Good Luck!!!
The facility IS pet friendly. Offers pet housing in seperate area for your pet but accessible to visit pet daily.
Its actually not that bad they just remodeled it..... And they.... Give u kind of what u need takes a minute to get in for.... Resident.... There is no mold and i did not encounter.... Bed bugs i was greatful to have a place to sleep
Did you ever find a place to volunteer i am looking as well let me know
First come first serve last time I was there.
Yes. They are open 24hours and do an assessment before taking you in thou. I've also heard some poor conditions review so I don't know if it's worth while.
Women & kids only men can go to the Rescue Mission down the street tho.
You can ask to speak to a director or case manager they should be able to help with all the information you need
Just call them or walk in on a weekday, before 5...
Crossroads....
You would need to go down there in person to get the best help but it MUST be in the morning as many are there daily looking for shelter. Veterans have first priority. I've switched phones since being there so I do not have their phone numbers any more. But DO dial 211 and THEY can give you their contact information. When you call and you don't have transportation their, let them know. If they can not help you, let me know and I can try to take you their. I live near there.
Nothing really, they do an assessment first though so you could be turned away. But worth a try.
We are a first come first serve shelter this is why we cannot give bed availability over the phone we don't want to give out wrong information and tell you to come and we don't have any space for you most of the time coming at 4:05 in the morning there is no space your best time to come to the shade tree is in the morning between 6 and 8 a.m. you have a better chance of getting into the shelter unless you're domestic violence with a blue card you can come at any time we will let you in but if you just walking into the shelter you need to come as early as possible.
I don't know what you mean, plus this shelter is strictly for homeless women, children, and pets. They do not take in men.
Its bunk beds. Because you have a son. You would get a family space which has a little more privacy
I am not sure. But there is a woman's shelter on Marilyn Parkway tgat a lot of people don't know about. I hope you find a place. God bless 🙌
Yes u can
Why the staff there only gives us rags and plays favorite w the stuff u drop off. That place don't care about pple. It's sad really.
This is a 24-hour facility so you can come anytime. I would take into account the holiday season and the weekend. There should always be someone there to answer the phone. I would definitely take into account the weekend at the holiday season.
Absolutely
It is for women and women with children to sleep and have a safe place to go
No they don't I was pregnant before an pushed into a wall by metro police department an placed in jail an they officer came to the car saying that I was kicking the door I went back there when my daughter was around three months old an stayed at there day shelter white people can lay there all day an everyone else has to set up for hours Mr yazze works at the salvation army next door they have cameras all over there they're staff is rude period I'm not the person they are racist She is the supervisor there a lie is a lie is a lie 192 in food stamps with no cash aid an calling it homeless is no excuse period all three are the same

Just call or drop off at the front entrance at 1 west owens 89030
How do u know about the Shade Tree?
I'm coming from NY with my daughter and dogs we are looking to find a place to stay till we get our own any thing will help
Go to the Shade Tree anyways and speak to a counselor about what you can do as far as becoming a resident. But you should be able to stay at the Shade Tree as long as you show up for bed assigning every day at 3pm. •Get there before 3 because there will be a long line. •Make sure you have some form of ID AND information from your doctor about your pregnancy.
No. They will direct you to the Salvation Army that is up the street from them. Go to the Salvation Army on Owens. They can give you help.
Personally took shelter there, had two cats and my gf. So Mama Price is very right. Best and only advice. Also, do tell them to keep going back if there are no beds. One day no beds, another day tons of beds. So keep going.
If you were assigned a bed WITH a number then you keep that bed and let your belongings stay at that bed number, for however long you need it. Just make sure you are back before curfew oryour bed WILL be given up to the next person who needs it. ALWAYS check in with security befpre reentering so they know you are NOT new and that ypu have a bed number.
No wifi. Nearest Mcdonalds does, nearest Starbucks might, and try using the open air wifi through Cox by signing you phone number up...(....when i did it, which results may be different for others, after sign up you should be emailed a code to use whenever you want wifi(you should be connected already to the wifi), wifi ONLY works for one hour for the month...(...so use sparingly??? I didnt lol). Good luck Wifi'ing!
Dogs and cats are what's allowed there. Give them a call to see if they wouldn't mind making an acception.
No. I suggest you bring various toiletries bags for women and children. If you can afford a treadmill, you can afford 12 pairs of jeans for men and socks. I do not work there, so I suggest you give them a call to see what their current needs are.
Spokane WA YWCA, Call 326-CALL (2255), the YWCA Spokane 24hr Domestic Violence Helpline, for an assessment. Call them and check for opening. Well worth the try. A billion times better than Vegas.
Yes Only if you get in. But it's the worse place to be. Live breakout now and not the best meals anyway.
No. I don't think so.
Unfortunately yes. Only rescue mission and family promise help BUT that's if you can get in. They're always full it's pathetic.
Tons of bunk beds in one room. Like jail.
Nothing. They just need to have room available
No
It’s still bad, if not worse
6pm... Working or programming can be excused in advance.
Yes they have a pet area you will be separated from your dog
Not anymore lol run!
i know right and obviously they not from America or can not spell very good. Maybe its a troll trying to type like an actual client. But anyone who is real, know this is a jail term without the felony papers.
omg do not help these people...their cats had herpes last year and omg they treated my friends animals like DOGS! PARDON THE PUN! Call the Salvation Army do not help these people. Co-hort if you do!! Run forrest Run!
ok who are you? you dont know Lucy Lu from Chrissy, This is no damn safety net, Protective? Are you serious? The guards look like Line Backers or Amos and Andy! get outta here with a wonderful recommendation. Luani, you was probably at SafeNest not here...at least comment properly. People depend on us. This is not the place for no one, especially children. Girls...beware..Boys are unmanned and wild and out. Protect ya teens, both male and female. omg I cant say enough...so see you at the movie premier of 88 days!
All you have to do is be homeless and female. No boys over 16 or 17 year old and don't be on drugs. They let anyone in really.
No. They are only closing the third floor transitional housing program that allows women and their children a longer stay to get on their feet. The 90-day emergency shelter and seasonal Day Shelter programs are remaining unchanged.
