The North County landfill on Harney ln. Is open everyday from 7am to 4pm except for a few holidays according to their website. The 4pm closing time means they want to lock the gate at 4pm so getting there by 3:30 pm is a good idea to have time to unload and get out by 4pm.

In general, a "junk slip" from the Department of Motor Vehicles is required. The North County facility is currently accepting treated wood. Rates will vary depending on the condition and volume of the load and pricing will range from "normal" rates to "special handling" waste rates based upon the scale house's determination. Generally, SMALL loads of treated wood (cut at less than 5 feet) will be charged normal rates. Large loads and irregular wood may be subject to higher rates at the scale house's discretion. No, County-owned facilities are not currently accepting this material. As of January 1, 2021 treated wood has been reclassified by the State as a hazardous material and is banned from County landfills. We are currently looking into options for residents for disposal. Thank you.

North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill accepts loads of untreated wood for a fee. If wood is clean and uncontaminated, it will most likely be recycled. Wood that is hazardous (pressure-treated) or hard to manage (large spools, stumps, etc.) may be accepted on a case by case basis. Yes, the North County facility accepts spas. Pricing is determined by the size of the unit. If the unit is brought in whole, you will most likely be charged by weight. If the spa is cut up into smaller pieces (some customers will do this), you may be charged as a "minimum fee" vehicle.
