Questions & Answers

I know you don't work with the insurance companies because you say it's fraudulent to bill for individual psychotherapy when you are actually doing couple or marital work. Why can't you say it is marriage counseling?

Because for two reasons: 1. Insurance coverage is contingent on proving medical necessity and that requires giving the insurance people lots of information about you and your spouse and your family because it is not individual therapy, i.e. just about you. 2. Most insurance companies do not cover relationship counseling, anyway.

I know you are a marriage counselor, but what if we have given up and really want an amicable separation and divorce? Will you try to change our minds?

I do not have a bias that to stay married is better than divorcing. Although I do not recommend divorce, I also do not recommend staying together. That decision is yours to make. What I can do is discuss pro/cons of various scenarios and the ways to best proceed on a given course. The path you chose is yours, but I will companion and support you what ever your decision.
