The company throw some numbers for the repair costs. I had an issue with my AC on Saturday. I called this company and the technician get there after couple hours and found out the circuit board is bad. They charged me $118 for just diagnose to see what the problem is, but this is very surprising that this is not included in the repairs costs. So the technician told me they have to order the circuit board on Monday which may cost about $400. On Monday they called that we have the board but it costs $700. I am also a technician and I know how much would this cost, but seems like they want to charge more because they know it's hot and you need it. After talking over the phone they lowered it to $660. The total repair cost including diagnostic $788. I had the same issue with my other unit AC, same board with labor cost another company charged me total $400. To look for an issue it's for their technician. Why would I pay for it? If after diagnostic I say no I don't want repair, that makes sense to charge for diagnostic. But if I asked them to repair this shouldn't be separate from their repair costs. I never seen something like this working with different companies.

Ricky - I am just a retired general contractor, but as I remember the rule of thumb for AC in the desert was around 1 ton per 300 sq feet. So 6 tons might be a little undersized. Regarding seer rating, higher seer # means more efficient system. So it will cost less to run, but will cost more to install I would talk with Todd or Brad and they can help correctly size the system and advise you on efficiency based on your anticipated use
