The building was designed in the Bauhaus tradition by Walter Gropius' firm "The Architects Collaborative" (TAC). Walter Gropius died in 1969, so he didn't live to see this building (proposed in 1973 and opened in 1976). The structure is timeless. If there was a real-life Bond villain's lair - this former Johns Manville World Headquarters building would fit the mould. Deceptively, at it's tallest point, it's over 10 stories tall - and can almost be thought of as a skyscraper built on its side with parking on roof-top. Now owned by Lockheed Martin, you cannot visit the site without approved access but it provides some gorgeous views for employees working there - with close access to hiking and mountain bike trails. If you get the opportunity to work at the Deer Creek facility, it's a real privilege - esp. compared to some places located in non-descript industrial parks with views of a parking lot.
