This is a beautiful county campground with views of the 20 million year old volcanic cores poking up to the south. (Morro Rock is the end of that seven mountain core chain). The campsites in the front loop offer more room and better views, but there are plenty of full hook up sites in the campground. There is also an overflow area for dry campers. Coin operated showers offer plenty of warm water for a buck and the restrooms are clean. It’s a convenient stop between LA and San Francisco or before or after tackling the Big Sur route on Highway 1. It is also adjacent a botanical garden which is quite interesting.

Sites are clean, there are trails and golf, beaches are a short drive away. Mid-week at the end of July...fairly quiet!

The site was great but we had issues with the check in lady she was not doing her job right she made a mess of things when it came to our vehicle registration. Also the restroom could of been stocked better and the shower in girls restrooms was nasty but I guess thats the nasty visitors fault cause people dont know how to clean up after them self. over all it was a good time.

No long term is available. I believe 30 days consecutively is the maximum. Ranco Colina in Morro Bay offers long term stays.
I don't think so, plenty of other things to do.
Cuesta College across Hwy 1 has a pool. You would need to pay a fee, but a pass could work if you're staying a while.
It's close enough to major roadways and civilization that it's highly unlikely to encounter large wildlife.
$25 if I remember well.
Embassy Suites isn't to far, Hampton and Marriott Courtyard, just off the 101 near Avila
As long as they're leashed and you pick after them there shouldn't be an issue
I slept in a tent, and traffic noise was a problem all night long. If I ever camp there again, I will claim a site as far from the road as possible.
No info. I do not own a dog.
You can make reservations, but el chorro is not overly busy on weekdays, off season, etc. On summer weekends and holidays, of course you must make a reservation.
Absolutely. Each campsite has a small fire ring with grill for cooking / BBQ. The park area / group area also has a larger BBQ options (reservations are suggested).
