Beautiful area for day visits and camping. Very safe water conditions and weather is typically great. The sand and beach are nice and clean. Routine Harbor Patrol patrols of the area are good for all around checks on safety and assistance if needed.

Dogs and beach=❤

1. This is NOT dog friendly, the dog beach part is the tiny beach on the other side of the rocks. 2. It’s filthy, it’s covered in rotting seaweed and the water is orange and smells like dead fish. 3. The road is very close and poses a danger to dogs and children. 4. There is no beach amenities such as a bathroom or a place to rinse off after. The best dog beach is Morro Bay Dog Beach or Pismo. We came here to try something new because it’s 40 minutes closer. Not worth it.

Good to have a little spot on the beach that’s not crowded. It has quite a bit of seaweed but that’s alright. We live in Avila but the beach is usually packed, this part is nice to go to to enjoy the beach without the crowd

This beach is not in Pismo. It's a beach in Port San Luis Harbor and is closer to Avila Beach. About 15 minutes from Pismo. On Fisherman's Beach you can't have any fires and dogs are no longer welcome on the beach. However there is a beach right next to it that has bonfire pits and allows dogs off leash. It called Olde Port Beach and that's the beach you are looking for.
There are nice bathrooms and pay indoor showers very close by in Port San Luis Harbor. You can see them from the beach.
