This review is based on my SELLING experience. I came on a Monday morning and did not have to wait very long. The two ladies sorting through my clothes were very friendly and present with my transaction. My expectations were low based on other reviews, so I was happy when I walked away with 90 bucks! Experiences will always vary but this was a good one.

I’ve had positive experiences with the staff every time I’ve visited. I’ve bought nice long-lasting clothes from brands like Agolde and Everlane secondhand that I otherwise would not be able to afford at full retail prices. They have an assortment of clothes, some of which are new from boutique brands, and you may have to dig for the high quality stuff in your style and size but it’s worth it. I also have sold my clothes here several times for cash and credit. They take a good chunk of my items and I can tell they’re discerning without being picky. Overall, love this place!

Prices are way up.

I’ve been going to this Buffalo exchange since they were at their first location across the street from Sephora. It has been my favorite thrift store for almost a decade & unfortunately that’s no longer the case since the business seems to be going downhill. I’ve sold clothing on a few occasions & each time, there’s a different buyer. So the criteria for what they accept is essentially arbitrary & completely subjective to the employee’s taste. As time went on, they seem to be more selective with the items they take however, the inventory available to the public hasn’t improved whatsoever. The prices for clothes is still pretty good but they’ve completely ruined their “closet-clean-out” mantra.

My experience has been that different people are treated differently.. if you know what I’m saying. If you want the best offer and you’re on the side that gets treated differently ask Becky of Alley to do it for you.
Yes but i would call 1st to ask if there are any items in particular they want & if there's items they're not taking. The reason being is sometime they receive an abundance of jeans or dresses so they stop taking them for a a little until some things get sold..When i went my 1st time for trade in this occured..the guy was turning folks away left & right & it wasnt an issue with the items it was just they had so many they needed to sell some things 1st. However, Accesories (good belts, jewerly, footwear, bags/purses/wallets, in-season stylish hats etc) is almost always needed. Hope this helps.
The selection varies. You'd have to go in to see.
I was only there twice & I know there were no steps to go up or dwn to get in but I'm don't recall if there was a small bump in the doorway....but even if there was I'm sure a wheelchair would be able to go over it but do keep in mind that once u are inside it is a very small store with not much room between racks. I really liked this place so I hope u get to experience it! Enjoy!
They have buyers that go through each piece of clothing and make a decision. You have to bring it in to know.
Probably, they take anything they will be able to sell so it might depend on the dress
I'd say no. I have been going in there since theyvopened and I have never seen one. I go in twice a day. It's best to call and see what they are taking than to have to sit there for a long time only to not have them take what you brought in.
No, only men's and women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, wallets and bags.
That is for employees, not for customers. I'm 99% on that
I'd recommend it because they are so picky as it is. Forget it if you have a powder or deodorant mark on a tee shirt!
They do not buy baby or children's clothes. Only Men's and Women's clothes, shoes and accessories.
It really depends on who the individual appraiser is...unfortunately, the seller often finds him/herself at the mercy/whim of the person who happens to be at the counter at the time. Seems that there are VERY general rules regarding what they will buy, but ultimately the personal preference of the appraiser seems to trump everything. Bottom line: it's a total crapshoot, so just take your chances!
Yes
Usually yes, but taking store credit gets you more value. Right now they're only paying via PayPal.
I would call first
Occasionally, depending on condition and style. You wont get a ton of $, so if you've got aomething really valuable you may be better off with a more traditional consigner. If you're just looking to get rid of your furs, they usually take donations of any furs for charity.
Best to call or stop by in person to ask!
If it's in good condition, they might buy. You can always stop by in store to see what price they'll quote you
They have ladies formal dresses, but I don't think I've ever seen formal menswear there. Then again, maybe that's just from lack of people selling it! Never hurts to give it a try, but fair warning - they won't give you anywhere near $700 for it.
I'm not very sure. Maybe ask the store itself -- maybe give them a call or stop by.
Current, designer clothing, bags or shoes.
Well, they're the place for you (and the boots)
As a frequent shopper, I have noticed multiple employees of all genders who are people of color.
Not sure. It's best to ask employees themselves at the store. But you might get a good penny from them, if at all.
Can't give u a price only the store can
You're asking Google in general. You'll need to call the store directly.
Yes they have boots! You can find brand names and regular everyday boots!
How much could I get for a perfect pair of Nike Airforce One shoes
They moved between 16th & 15 chestnut st.
No appt. You have to wait in line, so the earlier the better
Everything must be assessed in person. It all depends on their condition and style & then, if they think they are something that will sell well in their store, the original retail price is factored in. They like trendy stuff in good condition. Ou'd they decide to buy your stuff the buyer assigns the item a price that they will sell it for in the store, you get 30% of their selling price in cash or 50% in store credit.
I went down yesterday to the one on chesnut street and the door was locked and Windows were covered in newspaper. did they move or something?
Buffalo Exchange does not accept household items, only clothing and accessories for adults, sorry.
Should be.
Being that its in season they may except it...however its all about the quality, style and design
The buyers are trained to buy clothing, shoes, and accessories based on trends and season. From H&M to Rag & Bone, the label doesn't matter so much as: is it cute? is it on trend? or is it an exciting or unique piece, like cool vintage in great condition? Not everything has to be in perfect shape- but no stains or holes, stuff that's generally in good shape that someone could buy and wear that day. Keep in mind they only have limited space and they have to provide a variety for their customers, so sometimes they just don't need certain stuff that they might want at other times. As others mentioned, it's a good idea to call ahead and ask what they need, and no, they do not take kids clothing.
Yes
I doubt it, but Give them a call to be sure
I would try Greene Street or Poshmark for workwear. Buffalo exchange is much more casual/vintage.
