Very nice campground. We stayed in February, so the bugs weren't too bad and since there are no hook ups (Long Pine), it was nice weather to sleep without AC. We plan to go back again.

Nice place for a picnic surrounded by trees and birds

I visited May 13th 2022. The gates to the camping area was closed . The picnic areas were open with many tables and locations to choose from. Open also were the restrooms. The restrooms had soap , air hand dryer and the usual stationary. The big flies were few and unlike Flamingo campground no mosquitoes to speak of

Beautiful campground. Not a lot of people and staff did a great job spacing us out from each other. Very quiet, lush area. We asked to not have to unhook and got a site that we just pulled off into a little loop off the road. Level and very nice! Did not see any wild animals! Boohoo! Lol! Great one nighter before going into the Keys.

No electricity in Long Pine but some in the Flamingo Campground in the same National Park.
If bringing rv yes. But tent comping there is no reservations necessary because it's first come first serve. And the gate is open 24hr for self check in
Call them like the day before your planned check in to see if it's full, if no then on the day just make sure to get there as early as possible. I go with a large group and we normally get there early be able to get good spots.
Campground is open 24/7 during busy season (approximately November-June). There is a a ranger collecting fees during regular business hours, if you get there later you can just pick a spot and the camp host will tell you to check in in the morning. In the off season the campground is closed.
The closest food to buy made in the park is at the food truck that is usually at the ship store Marina. They sell some frozen food at the store for RV cooking. Just go down there prepared. Every campsite has a grill
We have to pay!!
You can buy ice and firewood there
Pet's?
Yes
Most of the sites are pretty private. Except it seems that I remember any that are near the water are more open.
You will have to call them and ask
It's first come first serve and very busy Thanksgiving weekend. We usually head out Friday really early and get a spot
They do not make reservations. It is the first that arrives. If they take reservations for flamingo but it is not a forest and has more mosquitoes.
Hey there. Long pine key is first come first serve but closes during the summer. Flamingo is open year round and won't require a reservation. You can call 18557082207.
It is part of the Everglades NP. Max stay is two weeks.
You can reserve a group campsite. #76 is a great site.they usually leave around 5 PM Try back at 9 AM tomorrow. It has better shade and is a nice campsite. Most are pretty good site but #76 is my preferred site. It is also near the amphitheater, but far enough away to avoid the people who drive and park in front of the path to it.
We bring portable chargers and you can charge your phones ect in the bathroom
Best to bring eeverything you mite need with you.
Yes I have verizon and I could get a signal there, but not further into the park...only a few more miles down the road and its gone.
We had a 35' rv in the park last winter, had no problems.
Their length of stay is the same as most Federal gov locations - 14 days. While there are no hookups at the sites there is a dump and water location and shower facilities. This is a great campground with lots to do, lots of plant life an critters. Go, you'll be glad you did. Tends to fill up weekends.
Rare to see crocodiles in the lake I think - 5 miles back down the road at Royal Palms is full of them - good viewing of them and lots of other wildlife. Some canoeing and kayaking opportunities in surrounding lakes nearby - better within a couple hours driving. Long Pine Key is a great area to spend some time.
