Went to just get a new state ID, there was maybe 5 people in the waiting room, I was told they aren’t taking any walk ins and are very short staffed. The guy was rude and basically couldn’t help me at all. This was an urgent thing I needed done. How is anyone supposed to know it’s appointment only? I had to drive another 30 minutes out of my way to another DMV because this one couldn’t handle 5 people.

Best DMV license location! All of the staff were kind, efficient, and helpful. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Even if we had to wait, we wouldn’t have minded because the staff was so awesome!

Name Change due to marriage. My husband and I made an appt. several months ago which was this past Tuesday morning. He changed his entire name not just his surname. We picked up our required docs including marriage certificate and new SS card at the social security administration. At the courthouse and the SS administration, things were smooth sailing. However, the man my husband spoke with at this location INSISTED that in spite of the information we'd been given (we even called the DMV call center to make sure we had what we needed), we would HAVE to go BACK to Wake county and have the judge make an official order signing off on the name change. Nowhere on the DMV's website do they specify that ONLY a surname can change. The verbiage used is specifically "name change due to marriage," which he met the requirements for. Even if the DMV site doesn't say this, common sense dictates once the FEDERAL government recognizes the new name, the state of NC should too, right? Welp, not here. Thankfully, we made another appointment over an hour away and got it sorted out at a different DMV location in 20 minutes. Not after wasting time being turned away from 2 Raleigh DMV offices for having no walk ins available after 4 hours of waiting though. My suggestion is gently but firmly push back before wasting your time going elsewhere. He absolutely didn't know what he was talking about regarding this matter.

Only need to move your license if you setup a permanent residence in the state for longer than 30 days. Basically if you are pulled over explain to the officer that you live in whatever state your license is in, you are only here in NC on temporary work assignments and not as a permanent resident. Most officers will simply write you a ticket for the infraction or a warning. Be sure to prove you are a resident of said other state.
No. They are two separate locations.
There are a lot of services offered on line. It would not be bad to check on line to see if what you need is available on line. I'm just not sure what is offered and what is not offered.
I'm pretty sure you do not have to have an appointment just for that. They will probably charge you for a duplicate license minus the lens restriction.
Birth certificate
You got to have insurance on you as a license driver
They will but can't guarantee that you will be served
I don't think they are. My sister had to make an appointment just to take the written test.
I'm not sure. I think they do take walk-ins but, it would be after people with appointments. You might be sitting/standing for hours
No, it is by appointment.
Online.. it's fast and easy
They are no longer waved. They are doing them now.
There are several ways to studying for the tests. Whether CDL or Drivers License for vehicles or motorcycle. The DMV has printed booklets, but you can also use YouTube "Marathon CDL Combination; Air Brakes or General Knowledge Test Questions and Answers.

Go to the clerk of court of the county you lost your license in.
Anyone who wants to fly within the USA will have to have one. If you have a valid passport, you will be able to use that. To get the Real ID you must have 1. a social security card, 2. Birth certificate or passport 3. If a married female, a marriage license to prove your last name 4. A bill with your name and address. It cost the same as a regular license. If you get one before your renewal time it is $13, like getting a duplicate.
Permit, driving log, insurance with child's name on it, car registration, parent and $20.
You need fldl, birth certificate, social, 2 items with your name and address, proof of car insurance. If you don't have anything with your name and nc address there will be a $2 affidavit fee.
$13 you just go in and change it or do it online at myncdmv.org
Walk through the lobby to the back of the building speak to the person sitting at the facilitator desk.
The Smithfield office is no longer open on Saturdays.
You can go into the office tell them your social or show a w-2 form. They will do facial recognition through images to verify it is you then issue you a duplicate.
Take your birth certificate in to prove your date of birth.
