Nice range and very helpful rangers.

Been Coming out here for years, my dad use to bring me as a kid and i still continue to go out till this day, especially after their renovation of the place its been nice, my only thing is they are not very organized as they used to, After covid when i was able to start shooting again, i started coming out more, but it seems as if their range officers are all not on the same page, Every time Ive come out there it seems that the rules for the place continues to change. I don’t always shoot shotguns there but i decided to ask since i brought one out, i asked where I’m able to shoot it, if I’m allowed to shoot paper targets with it, well one officer said i can shoot only bird shot at paper targets at the rifle range or the skeets, another officer said i can only shoot buck or slugs at the rifle range on paper, and another officer said I’m only allowed to shoot Slugs on paper at the rifle range. Instead of me going through all my ammo for slugs i decided to pay the $5 per box of shells to shoot skeets. Its been like this for a few months, right when the range opened back up after renovation, one officer told me i can shoot my handgun at the rifle range only on paper, then another officer told me i can only shoot my handgun at the pistol range. I’ll always support this range especially with how much memory this place has, I’m just hoping that all the staff get together and really get on one page and not give people random information. I’ve met quite a bit of people who stopped going for this exact problem. But if its your first time and you need a place to shoot definitely give this place a shot.

Best range I've ever been to. Can't beat the price even without all the amenities. Definitely will be back.

Our family had so much fun there. I love the outdoor setting. Customer service was great and the prices were great too. The range feels comfortable and safe. The area is clean and neat.

No. Just $6 a person and eye and ear protection.
The Honey Island Shooting Range is a non profit organization committed to providing a safe outdoor range for the general public. The range provides paper targets at a nominal fee. They also have free ear plugs and safety glasses that can be borrowed. They do not sell or rent firearms and they do not sell any ammunition. Guests are charged a $6 fee for unlimited time (until the range closes). You can bring any firearm that you legally own and possess. There's a rifle range, a shotgun range, a pistol range, and a rimfire only range. You can bring any ammunition. Safe hand loads and factory ammo are both permitted. The range officers are friendly and helpful. This range is nicely run and well kept. I've been shooting the many times; always a pleasant experience.
Paper targets are fine. they're steel plinking targets you might have to ask them.
It's $4 (as of June 1, 2018) per box of shells you shot. We don't charge by the clay. And DO NOT bring your own clays. We provide those.
There isn't a minimum age requirement but we do ask that in the need of safety if you bring young children then someone has 100% responsibility over the children while the group is out there shooting.
We offer a 22-only section which is at the far end of our pistol line. It has a multitude of different metal, reactionary targets set up at all different distances from about 10 to 25 yards. While we don't have a minimum age restriction in place at the range, we do expect that adult shooters who bring their children keep them under their supervision 100% of the time. Kids 15 or under are free with adult.
No night shooting allowed as we are bound by the time allowed to shoot per the Wildlife Management Area's rules.
You can bring your own. We provide wood-framed target stands and staplers. If you need paper targets we sell a variety of them, 2 for $1.00. We also have the "splatter" type that show a highlight around your bullet holes for $1.00ea.
We have a 100 yard Rifle Range and 25 yard Pistol Range. Sorry, nothing longer than 100 yards.
Yes
Yes. We allow full and simulated full automatic fire (binary triggers) ONLY AT OUR 25YD PISTOL LINE, HOWEVER. All round must impact the berm and that's hard to control on our 100yd rifle line so we relegate all automatic fire to our Pistol Line only. Thanks!
6 dollars and yes there is an archery range
Yes it can wirh proper safty precautions
Anything below .50cal is allowed.
I'm inclined to say they would cuz they have their own steel targets there on the pistol range and the rifle range
I don't remember how much it cost
Hello, I'm a Range Officer at Honey Island. We are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday regardless of weather or holidays. The only reason we would be closed is if the access bridge that crosses the Bayou in front of our entrance is flooded due to high water.
We're in Winter hours right now. Friday: 11am. Saturday & Sunday: 8am. During summer we open at 1pm on Fridays and at 8am on Saturday and Sunday The ranges will usually stay cold for about 20-30 minutes after opening time to allow shooters to set out their targets. Then it will go hot.
No license needed to shoot. It's a public range. However, it's located on a wildlife refuge and you need to have a Louisiana hunting or fishing license to be on the refuge, even if to go to and from the range.
Don't need any rights or membership to shoot at Honey Island. It is a public range. The only caveat is that you need a Louisiana hunting or fishing license to be on site because the range is situated inside the Pearl River Wildlife Management Area. The cheapest option for you would be a Louisiana Wild Stamp and it can be purchased at anyplace fishing and hunting licenses are sold in Louisiana.
Yes. Any any all firearms are allowed up to 50 caliber rifles. There are no rentals available. You could even shoot automatic firearms if you have them.
