I loved Verandas when it was privately owned. I disliked it almost immediately when it was bought out by Morgan Properties. They increased rent (with no improvement to interior living or amenities), and decided to update the exterior aesthetics instead. I was also charged over $1400 when I moved out for cleaning/replacement fees. I think it has been and will continue to be extremely unfair for residents to have to front the cost for updates to an old property that Morgan Properties knew would need to update at their own cost. DON’T DO IT! I’ve lived in a handful of apartment complexes over many states and know their common sneaky tricks, so I’ve never had to review one before. This one, however, is going to destroy my perfect credit score by sending their ridiculous cleaning fees to a collection agency. Save yourself by renting at another local apartment complex, especially since this one is trying to match their prices for far less than what you’d be paying for.

One of the cheaper options in Aiken but that was the only upside. I could write a PhD thesis on how bad this place is. I saw several cockroaches every week despite having pest control come multiple times. Had an ant colony invade my bedroom though a crack in the window within days of moving in. A few earthworms also showed just to rub it in. The place smelled like cigarette smoke and mildew no matter what I did. I could hear my upstairs neighbors even when they were talking quietly. Put in a maintenance request for a cracked window that was ignored for months. Laundry room was poorly maintained and half of the washers and dryers didn’t work. I lost about 5 dollars in quarters to that dang room. I lived in a 150 year-old house next to two frats during college and had far less complaints than I did living here. I left the area for a weekend and came back to a half dozen dead roaches on the floor. Pretty sure living here has taken a year or two off of my lifespan. Don’t live here unless you were one of those kids who used to collect bugs and put them in jars, you don’t feel like paying for your pet Iguana’s food, or you enjoy eavesdropping on your neighbors in your spare time. Please refer to the pictures attached, but maybe not while you’re eating
