Haven't seen anything like this place anywhere! Cool to think you can prospect for gold still in NC. Owners and employees are really nice , and helpful with the knowledge of mineral mining.

This place offers a great selection of river rocks, gems, paydirt, geodes, gem and gold mining equipment, and rock tumblers. All at great prices. The guys who work there are very friendly and informative. This is a must-stop for anyone in the area visiting Emerald Hollow Mine or similar places.

I'm not from NC, and not with Carolina Prospectors. There is an app called Digger's Map that might be useful for starters. Doesn't indicate potential for panning. At least it'll indicate that gold was found in an area. I see there was a gold mine north of Morganton called Puette Mine. No noted gold west of that. There was the Barclay Mine in N. Georgia near Rabun Gap. Maybe some research in minedat will be fruitful. Exercise usual cautions and courtesies regarding particular locations.
