Poor ventilation and extremely hot
bolrico nyc
First time at a range here in NYS and it wasn't too bad at all.... I see all the comments about the temperature, bathrooms and the range itself..... it's a gun/rifle range not a country club.... to me the 12 bucks I paid to shoot my rifle for over an hour was not that bad, the range officers and staff was very nice.... will be back for sure....

This place should be shut down. No proper ventilation or air conditioning in the range rooms. They will cram 10 people in one room even though all the other range rooms are empty. The hanger clips they use to hold targets are complete garbage and your target will falls off them frequently. The place is completely dilapidated from the bathroom to the lobby.
Lov Guns
OLD & OUTDATED. Over 50 years old. Needs to be completely redone. No climate control, very hot in summer and very cold in the winter. Poor air quality and filtration. Very short range, ok for pistols. Not good for rifle shooting. The lighting is very poor. The county needs to overhaul the shooting range and fix it up. It's falling apart. The shooting counters are uneven n with scratch your firearms. So bring a mat or something to put down. The sad fact this range is one of the only indoor ranges in Nassau, Suffolk and new york city.

They were closed because of an incident where 2 employees hired a friend to clean the casings. It wasn't sanctioned by the county and the employees were fired. They had to do an investigation and then hire a real company to clean the range. Newsday reported on it. That's why they randomly closed for 2 weeks.
They do not supply firearms. If it's a pistol it has to be your own and you have to show your license. If it's a shotgun or rifle you or anyone else can shoot it as long as everyone is 18 or older. You DON'T have to be law enforcement to shoot at the range. It's open to the public.
I didn't know there were summer hours. We go on Mondays at about 2PM.
They don't sell guns and you only need a rifle permit in NYC. In the rest of New York state and Long Island you can buy and shoot anything that is not a handgun as long as you are not a convicted felon and 18 or over.
You can SHOOT your SHOT-GUN there, but they require the shooter to use SLUGS not regular shot shells with the buckshot in them, have fun, they need to refurbish the facilities they are very outdated!
I don't believe so however check with range staff or the website
Not sure I go on Saturdays
They do not provide any firearms. They only sell ammo and targets. You can't shoot a pistol without a pistol license nor someone else pistol even if you do have a pistol license. If you are 18 or over you can buy and use any rifle or shotgun. However it would have to be purchased from a store.
Do you realize they can transmit lice? Ear plugs 3 dollars...hearing protection 8 dollars or so from harbor freight if want to go cheap
You need a drivers license or some form of ID. If you are shooting a handgun you'll need your handgun license too.
Hand gun? Answer is yes, but you not a riffle or shotgun. You can shoot your friends shot gun or riffle there. However you can not shoot other peoples hand gun. The rules are on their website.
It is today for the holiday, although there is no sign or statement on the voice mail
I saw nothing saying that you couldn't
They do not rent any guns...
With a shotgun you can use only slugs at this range..
Standing only
You can buy targets there. Selection is not great, but serves the purpose.
Is already open, Was there last Sunday.
Requirements include bringing ear and eye protection. You can and should bring targets but they do sell them there. They also DON'T rent firearms so you'll have to bring your own. For you handgun licence visit your local police precinct and follow the directions on the form.
I called today a long as they're only shooting rifles
16 with an adult or 18 on your own.
Only for handguns. Rifle or shotgun you can borrow from a buddy but they have to be present.
$12 if you have resident pass (which cost $30). $22 for everyone else. Cost is for 1 hour at the range.
No there isn't wifi
As long as it's a rifle unless you have a handgun permit
Sure why not? I would call them though...calverton would be more fun
Yes they are open on every holiday except Christmas. On some national holidays they will just close early instead. Usually closing at 5pm instead of 10pm. I was there yesterday and didn't see any notice about closing early for MLK day.
If it's a handgun then no. Even if they have a pistol permit they are not allowed to use someone else's pistol. If it is a rifle or shotgun then they can shoot them.
You're technically not allowed to use your phone inside the range but might be able to sneak in a picture. Outside the range are windows looking in, where you can view the range. You can take pictures from there with no problem.
Yes. But mindful of your neighbors. Especially rifles with muzzlebreak. A healthy nod can let people know you are about to let off a hot one.
YES
Be careful. In order for a 13 to fire a 22 he has to take their hunter safety class. It's a pain of a weekend but it's free I think. Hard to get a seat in class though. Supposedly if your a military officer you can get that waived. I was but they wouldn't accept that unless I was a qualified range officer.
If your a non resident it's 22 bucks. I think of your a resident with a leisure pass its 10 bucks.
You can go online for the hours and they have a graph showing the best times to go each day.
Yes you have to bring your own gun. They do not rent guns here although they will usually have ears, targets, and quite possibly ammo. Generally you would need a permit for any handgun.
