I was worried after reading these reviews - so I had to offer a counter comment! I’ve lived out of state for 25 years but whenever I visit my family here, going to Steak ‘n Shake with my mom is a favorite little tradition. I just had lunch with my mom and my own daughter - and while a few things have changed, Steak ‘n Shake is still a gem in the world of fast food. Yes, there are kiosks now where you used to order from a cashier. Thanks to the reviews, I knew to expect this - so it wasn’t jarring and it made a lot of sense because of COVID measures and likely because of what are now well-known hiring challenges throughout the restaurant biz. Anyway, the kiosks are user-friendly and we didn’t have any trouble ordering our cheeseburgers, fries, and a chocolate shake. The food at S ‘n S has always been made to order - so, you’re going to wait a bit longer than say, McDonald’s. But it’s totally worth the extra time - everything was fresh, well-prepared, and presented in the classic red food baskets. The chocolate shake took a few extra minutes and was served the classic way - in a tall, old-fashioned glass complete with whipped cream, cherry on top, and a generously-sized striped (paper) straw. Everything was delicious. I’d even gotten lettuce on my burger and it was fresh and crisp. Totally great experience! Don’t hesitate to indulge yourself - Steak ‘n Shake still delivers!!

We enjoyed our meal. All the food was well prepared and hot. Only complaint is the shake wasn't done at the time the food was. However, I would rather my food be served as soon as ready and hot than sit and get cold waiting for the shake!

I showed up at 10 AM to get a bite to eat and I am a guy who loves steak and shake. I have never seen a place so filthy at the beginning of the day. Absolutely nothing had been cleaned from the day before.

I have been eating at S and S for years and occasionally had to wait a few minutes when they are really busy but never that long
Went there tonight & the service was terrible.. Bathrooms were so nasty...
When they do get good servers, they don't stay long, so the good ones they probably overload and then they leave!!
The food and the prices are good but the wait is typically long even when you order ahead online. We typically arrive for pickup 10 minutes past the time it shows will be ready and have still have to wait anywhere from 10 - 20 additional minutes. However we keep going back and just accept the wait because we have four teens that love the food.....and McDonalds faster service still does not improve their burgers.
Elizabethtown Steak and Shake is the worse one I've been to. They totally do not care about customers. None of the tables were cleaned when I walked in. I couldn't even get anyone to take my money when I got up to pay. The staff just stands and looks at you and totally ignored me! A new waitress came up and said she would get someone to take my money. She was the only person that seem to care. I hate to see what she may end up like after being around the rest of those so called employees.
Sort of. They have stuff you can ask for that's not on there. You can look up the majority of it online.
We didn't order Milkshakes, just burgers. We had a good experience.
