Fantastic place! The park is a part of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area. Beautiful nature, exciting and challenging hiking experience. There are about 30 trails of different levels of difficulty, all with natural surface, often rocky, but with well-built bridges across the creek. Parking is limited, so check their website if you need to make a reservation. Admission fee. Headquarters, restrooms at the east side of the park. Primitive camping sites along the creek allow for a short break, if vacant. Huge trees and giant boulders make it look like an enchanted forest! Waterfalls should be spectacular, but we did not make it to any of them on our visit.

Incredible! Jones Gap State Park is a must! I suggest making reservations for camping. Especially weekends. The river and falls are just dreamy! I love that they have big and clean restrooms and a very cute store. We highly recommend this state park but please take the winding roads slow that lead to the park, slow. Some people were going way too fast. That could lead to catastrophe. Also plan to walk quite a bit at the park. Bring food and water. Be careful and enjoy nature’s beauty!

We did the rainbow falls trail and loved it, gorgeous park. It gets busy so I recommend going early

If you can’t get in without a reservation then all the beauty is useless. I find those who make reservations to spend time outdoors generally are people who don’t even know how to enjoy what they’re seeing. If there’s no state funding for …

They are open normally hours.
The closest waterfalls is a fairly easy hike and less than half way to Rainbow Falls. Rainbow Falls is a good hike that is difficult for small children and fairly steep in places.
I don't think that matters unless you wanted to visit the gift shop. You just put your money in the envelope where you park and then enjoy the park.
Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in the Middle Saluda, Matthews and Julian creeks for brook, rainbow and brown trout. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required. Artifical lures/flies only, please.
It's $5.00 per adult. Also, remember that it is is no trash zone so you won't find any trash cans in the area. Plan on taking a trash bag in your backpack.
No there is not, the Saluda River does flow through the park though.
Yes a SC park passport and $5 to park
No. I believe nearby Table Rock S.P. can accommodate that, though.
Yes
Yes you can camp right by the river. There are several sites. You will want to pack a cot or inflatable mattress. And bug spray.
Its a state park, they do not close
There is a man made trout pond that you cannot fish in; however, you can try fishing in the river. Good luck!
No, the gate will still be locked
It would be one the camp sites off of Jones cap trail.
Only in designated develped or primitive camping sites.
The office, bathrooms. And trout pond are accessible. The trails are not
Reservations are recommended. It's also the weekend before 4th of July. Call to see if they are booked or not.
In the beginning, on the main trail, there are a lot of bigger rocks that you have to pay attention to. I have seen kids on the trails but not any really young kids. Might get too tough. The river is worth the trip if nothing else. Hope this helps!
Rainbow falls is a ten mile round trip from the gift shop and half that is uphill some fairly steep so if your an elite marathon professional you could probably see the entire park in a day. Truth, these folks saying you can see it in a day are FOS
