Came out to this trail several weeks ago and was excited to get to a new trail. On my trailing, I saw what looked to be some type of abandoned mill on the trail. I had taken a shorter trail area and it was a steep uptake to get to the top but not much of an abrupt elevation change from there on. The trail was empty and peaceful.

I loved this place, I saw many people in kayaks and the water is really deep in some places, the parking is extremely limited so we had to park far away.

I had the best time canoeing with my son, grandson and daughter-in-law. What a beautiful place! The staff there were fabulous

No camping. There is no entrance fee for the Daniels area.
It was full when I was there. We waited near the parking area in the car until someone left. Be ready to move if asked.
It's open every day from sun up to sun down
Dogs are allowed. Paths are very long but not very challenging.
The Daniels Area does not have camping. We have two family campgrounds and six youth group campgrounds. Our camping season runs from April through October each year. One is located in our Hilton Area, and has Mini-Cabins and tent-only sites; the other campground is in our Hollofield area and has RV and tent camping with electric and non-electric, pet-friendly sites. To check availability and reserve a site please call reservations at 1.888.432.2267 (Mon-Fri, 9 am-5 pm) or visit parkreservations.maryland.gov
Yes. This is it. Parking is limited to about 15 spaces. You park anywhere else, you will get a parking ticket or worst case your vehicle will be towed
It costs nothing, except parking tickets, and frustration dealing with an over-used, under patrolled area. Wall-to-wall illegal parking. Many pedestrians blocking traffic. No lifeguards. I do not recommend this area to anyone for any use.
It doesn't matter what fish, what wildlife, or what plants are here. Parking is a nightmare. Access is crowded. Pedestrians making 3/4 mile walk along Daniel's Road block traffic. Illegal parking blocks traffic. Read Google reviews. Check SeeClick.com. This area is over used. County and MD DNR struggling to deal with issue.
When I kayak upstream from the dam, I do notice some fish in certain areas. I don't recommend putting in a lot of time in the area; not enough fish. Check the MD DNR website for the schedule of when they stock trout in the stream. Fishing is better then.
There is little to see of what once was a thriving mill town. Ravaged by Hurricane Agnes in 1972 the mill was sold and the town was abandoned.
Parking is BAD... The gravel lot is barricaded and the road is lined with a hundred "Tow Away Zone" signs on both shoulders spaced 20 feet apart so that there are effectively only about 15 legal spaces to park between the only two paved mini parking areas.
