Not sure what Dave means by “proton free”. Perhaps he was only half paying attention in physics class. There are plenty of protons in the atoms that makeup the plant itself and the fuel to run the place. In fact, the protons balance the weak nuclear force and keep the electrons in their orbital cloud. Maybe he means “Neutron free”? That would have made more sense, since neutrons are released in nuclear fission and collisions with free neutrons are what sustain the nuclear fission chain reaction. Either way, the power plant here appears to be coal fired and not nuclear.
