Nick's computer service is the best!
Kathryn Dodd
Nick is positively amazing. He is calm, cool, and collected explaining in very simple terms ( for those of us technically challenged) all that he does. He is a delight and I highly recommend his services.

I had an emergency with my computer I must have fixed within 2 days (including the day it broke) before a class that I could not miss. I would be removed from the class if miss 2 times. I was 1 month out from finishing the course so it was I imperative I have my computer working. I called Nick after finding him online and reading his reviews. Nick was very understanding and worked me in to look at it and see if he could get it operational. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Instead of trying to charge me excess fees, he was able to correct the problem and informed me of some other issues I can fix, if the problem happened again. My computer is old and he gave me advice due to its age. I’m extremely grateful for Nick’s patience and knowledge he shared. I felt he appreciated my business and he spoke in normal terms I could understand. I will be a customer for life and strongly recommend Nick’s Computer Services/Repair for any computer needs! EXCELLENT COMPANY!

Lani, the keyboards are integrated into the frame on modern laptops. Frame replacement is not typically a cost effective repair. The sound could be a driver issue, motherboard issue, or a speaker issue. Considering what you mentioned, I believe you would be better off putting the money towards a replacement computer. If you need a quote, I have a diagnostic fee I would charge. Thanks! Nick Woods
I don't repair individual components. I replace the bad parts. That being said, the pins may be able to be bent back, but I have seen them break before. If the CPU is a retail product (it is not OEM, and came with a heatsink) you may be able to return it to your vendor. If it is not returnable then you will have to take a chance bending the pins. I suggest fine tweezers and miniature pliers. Do not over bend or over manipulate the pins and check for straightness at various angles. It won't have to be perfect but close. You may have to jiggle the CPU in place, but do not force the CPU though. If pins break, the CPU may still be functional or not. Good Luck!
Ramya, on older computers the keyboard is a replacable part. On the newer computers the keyboard is integrated into the frame of the computer. Replacing the frame is a laborious repair. I do not give quotes without performing a diagnostic. There are too many variables to consider without opening the computer. Please contact me if you would like to set up a diagnostic for more information. Thank you for your interest! Nick
I don't give quotes without having access to the computer. There are too many variables that can come into play. I usually charge an hour for a PS installation + the part, or you may provide the part. My rates are listed under Services and Pricing on my website. The diagnostic charge will be applied to the repair if approved.
Laptops are not meant to have the gfx card updated. The Alienware is one of the few machines that the gfx card is replaceable, however, I have found the cost to be prohibitive and I would replace it with the card that with the same part that is currently in it. You mentioned slowness. The slowness could be due to a bad drive or due Windows not running well. I usually suggest upgrading to a solid state drive. Usually 5-7 years is considered the life of a laptop that is treated well. The gaming laptops are run very hard and hot and not designed to last, but rather to be fast. You might consider replacing the laptop. If you want a diagnostic to get a better idea of what is wrong, give me a call to schedule an appointment. Thanks, Nick
Laptop hinges don't really go bad. The plastic frame they are attached to typically breaks causing the hinge to be loose. Frame replacement is not typically a cost effective repair. I typically recommend replacing the computer to the client, but if the client wishes to get a quote, I charge for a diagnostic and will write up a quote after disassembly. Please see my pricing page for my current rates. Thanks! Nick
By appointment. He has a business phone and will schedule work on demand.
I don't work on computers that are that old. I would attempt to recover the data if my tools are compatible with your components. If I can't recover the data there is no charge and I will offer a referral to a data recover lab. Thanks, Nick
