They have made so many GREAT changes to the "Protest Process" since the days of when there were lines out the door, no place to park and 4-6 hour wait. Yes there are still some kinks being reported on social media. But I've been visiting DCAD for 20 years and each year is a better experience than the year before. Customer service is so much better and it's friendly!!! Respectful of your time. If you get put into a wait queue (which is likely), you get updates via TEXT letting you know long it will be. (I was able to make a short errand and I didn't miss my spot.) When seen by the appraiser agent, she was able to FULLY explain how the 2022 appraisal was arrived at. She also demonstrated interest in reviewing the information I'd brought to the protest and considered it. The meeting ended with a fair appraisal value for my house.

Cannot believe Mafia tactics are legal for a Government Agency. You meet with someone before your hearing and they give you an amount? They tell you if you do not take the deal, you loose the deal if you decide to go to the hearing! What a corrupt system.

The representatives were very knowledgeable and very helpful. The attendant even shared updated information since my last visit. It was a great experience.

I sent in a contest response the first week in June, nearly two weeks before the deadline. Saturday, (over a month later) I got a letter claiming that they did not receive it in time. However, when I requested today they provide the envelope showing when the postage was cancelled, I got the "we don't keep those types of things". Then where is YOUR evidence that you didn't receive it on time?
