There's not much to do in that area unless you are camping. However, the lake view from the overlook is magnificent and worth the drive. On a side note: if you are driving from south. Watch out your route! We used …

Hikes and lake are close to campground. Benton Falls is a must see. Damp cold at night in fall and spring so pack warm clothes or have a BIG fire. It can get chilly.

We traveled to chillhowee for a weekend camping trip. The site we reserved had electricity hook ups but no water. There is a spicket nearby for water collection. We just brought our own. Our site had a nice raised picnic and fire pit area. We really liked this feature. The lot was wooded and felt very peaceful and quiet, and was well shaded. The restrooms and shower house was close to us. They were large, clean, and well stocked. There are trails that lead from the campsites to several scenic places. One trail leads a very short walk to the beach.our children really enjoyed the beach, which has shallow waters so kids can play safely, and benches set in the shade so parents can watch comfortably. One trail leads to Benton falls, which is about w miles of a fairly easy walk, bit there is a steady decline going and a steady incline on the return. We were tired after this walk! But the falls are worth it. Gorgeous! Beware....the actual falls descent is steep and rocky. The falls itself is like a rushing rapid, not a place for letting littles swim. The Hiwassee river and Ocoee river run through this area. There are many different float and white water rafting outfitters you can reserve with. We went on a gentle 4 hour float down the hiwasee with our 4 kids. We had a great time and plan on there again and

Not sure about exact spot but they do have bathrooms with showers and all should be handicap accessible
I just camped out there in April and there are camp sites really close to a really big pond or you can call it a small beach it is really nice up there there are camp sites for tents with power
Yes they have fishing. Plenty of stocked fish.
You can park at your site. The roads to the sites are paved, but the camping area is crushed gravel. If you look at the pictures and select the 360 pictures, I have provided a few 360 degree photos of the camp site I recently stayed at there.
Yes. But you can not have them in the designated swimming area. You can have them on all the trails, you can have them at the water fall, the picnic areas, camping areas.... basically everywhere else. Just not at places marked off for swimming.
As of 2 days ago... Primitive camping $12 a night Primitive (with water and electric hook up on site) or Camper site $20 per night. If you want to primitive camp (tent) outside of the chilhowee area but in the National forest it is free. This is one of the few National forrest left that allows tent camping outside of campsites. You can hike any of the trails and find a spot you like and set up camp.
They are different prices the one we stay at is 15 a night but go to Recreation.gov and look up Chihowee.
We had the same issue. We have a family of 5 kids and 2 adults. We called to be sure it was ok. They were really great about it. No problems whatsoever.

Not sure what you're talking about, but as far as I know, there's only 1 road up to the lake and campground and it's paved.
Not so much with AT&T or Sprint. But Verizon has towers up there so if you're with them you should be good.
Its mainly a swimming hole. I've seen a few small Perch and Bass...
One of the campsites is on the back side of the lake and there is like a 10-minute hike to the waterfalls I have posted pictures of the waterfall.
There is always bear activity there. In 2016 the "Adult" bear population was greater than 1,500 bears. The Cherokee National forrest is just over 655,598 acres (1024 square miles). That means in 2016 there was 1 adult bear for every 20-21 square acres (0.68 square miles). Since 2016 the bear population has grown and now it is estimated that there is an adult bear for every 18-20 square acres of forrest. And if the bears are not hibernating then they are active.
In the cherokee National forrest you CAN bring your own firewood although there is plenty to collect. In the neighboring Smokey Mountain National Park you can not bring in your own firewood.
Camping is open all year round. What is seasonal is the lake for swimming.
