As of 2 days ago... Primitive camping $12 a night Primitive (with water and electric hook up on site) or Camper site $20 per night. If you want to primitive camp (tent) outside of the chilhowee area but in the National forest it is free. This is one of the few National forrest left that allows tent camping outside of campsites. You can hike any of the trails and find a spot you like and set up camp.
The camping sites are clear and close to the bathrooms. I am not certain about private camp sites though.
