THE WORSE OFFICE STAFF EVER! I have a referral from my insurance company and I've been trying all day to have my phone call answered. All it does is ring and ring. When someone did answer she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She said they would call me once they received the referral, and, when asked how long that would take, she said 5 to 7 business days! I called my insurance company and they said that referrals are sent electronically and shouldn't take that long. Institute of Clinical Orthopedics and Neuroscience NEEDS TO WAKE UP and realize first impressions are everything. I contacted my insurance company to get a different referral to a better Orthopedics doctor.

The hospital is under new ownership and has yet to place a referral message listing the Orthopedic Center's new phone number on their old phone number. When I eventually got their new number via the hospital's central call center, I spoke with a rather curt medical assistant. With a professional tone of voice, I alerted her to the problem. I then asked to see a shoulder specialist instead of a finger specialist, per my authorization from OPTUM. She said she couldn't do that. Frustrated, I told her to go ahead and book the finger specialist, thinking they could work it out when I arrived. She then informed me that the finger guy was out until sometime in October. Since this is early August and I'm having trouble sleeping at night with severe shoulder tendon tears, I quickly ended the conversation and called OPTUM. An OPTUM agent told me that the contract they have with the Orthopedic Center allowed for me to book any of their doctors. The agent said OPTUM would call and educate the Ortho Center staff as to their contract allowances. - Bottom line for me as a patient is that their staff is rude, uneducated and the new ownership has not successfully transitioned their care services to deserve anything higher than a one star rating. FYI, their ortho doctors are fine and I would rate them a 4 or 5, but beware of their P.A. ...but that's another story, one of a failed referral follow-up.

Dr. Zapf and Office Staff are all amazing!

I'm only giving 2 stars because Dr. Zapf and the entire staff were great. They provided professional and high-quality care. The problem is, you can't actually get in touch with anyone from this office if you have questions or need any assistance at all, including appointments. They don't answer the phone and they don't respond to messages in the patient portal. I don't think I've ever encountered a clinic this disorganized.
