This place does not prepare you to be dropped from the program. They see your birthday coming up so they stop giving you resources. I still have mail coming here and everytime I call to see if the one piece of mail I am waiting for is there, they are very rude. Staff changes way to much. The only staff I really like was BOOKER. Everyone else wasn’t there to help you. They were just there to get paid. Booker helped out as much as he can anytime he saw me. He gave me as many resources and necessities as he can. If he wasn’t in there than I would literally only be walking out with “snack bag” and being told every thing else isn’t available so I’d go all the way down there for just “snack bags” eventually when it started getting closer and closer to my birthday. They didn’t want to help with anything before I aged out. I literally begged to see a case manager and when I showed to see the case manager they said oh you did have an appointment but the case manager didn’t show so… and I aged out a week after that. They aren’t a good resource center for people who are older. Even when I was 16 in this program I never got anything that great. I remember one Christmas all I got was pillows and a cover and a white boy was gifted an APPLE WATCH. This wasn’t the best center to me jus saying. They literally gave me the barest minimum unless booker was there then I would actually be able to get my hands on stuff I needed.
