Between huckleberry point and the plane crash, this trail system has alot to offer. Moderate difficulty.

Decimating the idea of easy to access natural beauty. Death hung in the air the whole time. Loved it!!!! Will go again.

I did Huckleberry point trail which was about 5 miles back and forth, it was moderate to strenuous, I parked right before the tea intersection for the parking area because it was full there were about two spots available outside there. I recommend you to dress accordingly put a lot of mosquitoes and bugs flying around especially in the beginning you need sturdy shoes that protect the ankle and to visit resistant the trail could be wet. Bring water and some trail mix. The view at the end of the trail gives you a real satisfaction for the effort you put. Cheers!

Awesome place for a hike

The Platte Clove Preserve is owned by the Catskill Center and is open to visitors wishing to use the hiking paths. Swimming is considered a prohibited activity on the Preserve property.
The land to the east of the road and south of the Huckleberry Point Trail was recently purchased by The Nature Conservancy from a private landowner and will be transferred to NYS in the future. Our property (The Platte Clove Preserve) is to the west of the access road (also the Preserve is across Platte Clove Road to the south where the Overlook & Waterfall Trails are located). We look forward to working with TNC and DEC here.
Yes, free parking both along Platte Clove Rd as well as a parking lot at Huckleberry point trailhead about 200 yards down the road from the Overlook trailhead. Port-a-jon located at Huckleberry point parking lot too.
Camping is not allowed on the Platte Clove Preserve lands. Camping is allowed on State owned Forest Preserve Properties within the Catskill Park so long as the site is either a designated camping spot/lean-to, or is at least 150' from trail, water, road or parking lot. You can learn more about hiking and camping in the Catskill Park by visiting the Catskills Visitor Center in Mount Tremper (www.catskillsvisitorcenter.org).
Open fires, including charcoal fires and gas fires, are not permitted in the Platte Clove Preserve.
The Preserve proper is located at the top of Platte Clove Rd in Elka Park, Greene County. Saugerties is in Ulster County, the border of which is miles down Platte Clove Rd near the bottom. Most of what is considered "Platte Clove" is NOT in the Preserve, which is where the confusion may arrive.
