Besides the extreme decibel level, it was an awesome experience. All ages in our group of 25 complained of the volume, which prevented us from dancing more. Unfortunately we did not bring ear plugs.

Went with my parents who are obviously older. A party bus with younger/dressed up people got in line after us and the bouncer let them go first. We talked to him and he didnt even acknowledge us. Extremely disappointed and will never go back..

first and foremost I'm a 49 year old who grew up in the era of music they are trying to play. I went to funky town right before covid hit. And was really disappointed. The dance floor was a mess the sound system was a mess ... Last night my friend wanted to celebrate her bachelorette party there. We didn't make a reservation but we're able to luckily find a small booth for us to sit in. I was pleased to see that the sound system and the floors were both improved. However, I really feel like the DJs know zero about music from the '70s or '80s. The music they selected was like a top 20 for the whole decade. They might have played two 80 songs and a song from the backstreet boys... yuck. If you're going to play Disco era music there's so many other better artists to play. And I feel they only stick to a handful. So it just felt worn out and on repeat. Also whoever's DJing does not know how to transition from one song to another. And lastly playing music off of something you found where they were singing live and the audience is screaming in the background is not what you play in a club. Overall I feel the DJs need to work with older people from that generation to guide them to have a better sound experience for those of us that lived in that generation. As really when you walk away the experience is kind of tacky. And I think it could be better than that.. I also think that the decor could improve as well but one thing at a time.

The music. Holy christ the music. If they had a DJ that had any kind of clue whatsoever, it might be worth 2 stars. He may be the worst, no he is the worst I have ever heard. I have been to them all. Name the city, and I've probably been to 1 or 5. Then they have the car wash.. mind you NOT with the original song either. So much for being a 70s to 80s vibe. He proclaims that no other city does it.,True,, because the chemicals that come out of those bubbles, sends people outside. It's KC, where selections are very very limited. Another city? This dump with the worst cd playing dj would be an epic fail.

I go all the time, it's early 70s through early 90s all dance music with maybe one to two slow songs. Love it here! Great atmosphere ages 21-100s :) ages.

The cover charge is $10 cash per person. They are only open on Friday and Saturday nights and you can call and reserve a table ahead. I don't know that they have ever done private parties like renting the entire facility out. certain areas like the balcony called 'stairway to heaven" and the VIP table are available also for a small additional fee.
Used to be $10.
Yes, purchased cakes, cupcakes, cookies are allowed
Cover charge is all night
Daylight savings doesn't impact because it occurs at 2 am and we close at 1.
I've worn hats at Halloween and that has been okay and I've seen others around the same time. It is very common to see big afro wigs as 70s attire is quite common. In fact big crazy wigs of just about any type are quite common on both men and women. Grab yourself some bell bottoms and an afro wig and come have fun! Come to think of it just last weekend I saw a gentleman wearing a cowboy hat.
Yes 8.00 and they only take cash inside as well yes there is a atm
Answered my own Question ; They begin their Halloween Event this Weekend (9/28) and this yr they're combining it w/ their 20th anniversary event, meaning they'll have skits from Both being performed throughout the night. :D
no, just fun
21 and yes common to see 50 and 80. Fun dance place to go! People dress 70s and 80s! It's great! You don't have to dress that way and not everyone does, but a lot do! I DO!!
You just call ahead but that size group you need as advanced as possible. There is a waiting list. So, the sooner you know the date you wanna go and call ahead, gives you a better chance of getting the date you want. It's so worth it! Have fun!
Last time I went it was 10.00 a piece.
Everytime I have been there they have. They did Michael Jackson and thriller and a couple other songs. They had the zombies dancing. It was Great!!
You have to call. The waiting list is a little long I always call a month in advance. It's so worth it!!!
I visited Funkytown somewhere between 6-9 months ago, so unless it has changed the door charge was $20 that night.
Best to get there between 10 P.M. - 12 A.M. in my opinion.
As far as i know , i was there last weekend and it was $ 8.00 cover charge, i realy like going there it is fun for me.
