Sandy should teach customer service. She has it down pat. A rarity these days. Dog friendly historic hotel (1888) I think. Yes it is old. Our room had an ocean view. Lovely place!

This hotel is situated and a beautiful location with excellent access to the coastline and the shops that are available in Mendocino I think this hotel has one of the best locations in the entire area it looks to be taken care of very well and not in need of a lot of maintenance.

So this is a tough review. I really wanted to like this spot but it’s in the middle of a change of ownership transition that we were not made aware of that meant many of the amenities we hoped for were not in place. Pros: Great location, beautiful inside lobby, old photos, great vibe, personable enough staff. Cons: We asked when booking if the WiFi would work well enough for us to stay and work remote here 2 days and we got around 5 MB down and less than 1 MB up. Look - it’s a hotel, not a workspace, but it wasn’t enough for us to work effectively, even though we asked. Our other frustration was we specifically chose this location for the restaurant/bar attached but that was closed for renovations and not serving at this time. We were not made aware of this during our booking or before our stay, which we were very disappointed with. The location is historic, interesting, and we had a good time in Mendocino… but we felt what we asked about was not represented on our visit. We hope that the renovations from the new owners will bring it back to the gem we know it can be.

Staff was incredible. Very helpful and eager to please. Although slightly dated, our room was clean and well appointed. Grounds are beautiful and access to the ocean and great little town is easy and convenient. We would highly recommend for a quick getaway or extended stay. Quiet, relaxing and well worth the coat (which was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area).
