Big River Beach at Mendocino Headlands State Park

More than a mile long and 100 yards deep with river and coastal frontage, the sand was fine, almost white, and quite clean despite the 100+ visitors present on a Friday afternoon at 3:30. The overhead bridge was inaudible, despite all the traffic. Only portable toilets were apparent. Many seagulls gathered around those with food. Families and couples of all ages and strata were present.

Dog-friendly (on leash). Free parking (dirt lot). Easy walk right onto the beach. The part of the beach immediately adjacent to the parking lots is actually for the river. It's a bit of a walk out to the actual ocean and the waves. Great views.

Crafty Fox Crochet

A beautiful place where a river meets the sea. It would be so nice to spend a whole day here, bring a picnic and buckets for making sand castles!
