Absolutely wonderful. However, the hikes are very physically demanding, so not for everyone.

So these are some pictures from our paddling trip from Long Lake,NY down the Raquette River. Our plan was to take out at the Crusher, but thunderstorms and many groups with similar plans made taking out at Axton Landing prudent. We put in on a Sunday and met many groups, for a quieter trip I might consider putting in on Tuesday

The height of Mt. Marcy, the highest point in NY (and in the area) is 5344 feet.

We live in Quebec but would like to do some hiking in your area. We would also like to camp close by so that we don't have to hike with all our gear. Suggestions for some wilderness camping , perhaps on a platform (October)?

I second ADK Loj. I suggest calling ahead and making reservations. Nearby Meadows offers free Wilderness camping, but no platforms.

Where is the best place to park my car if I'm camping there for 3 days.

We parked right at our campsite.

Is there hunting allowed in these mountains? If so, do you have to have a permit to hunt? What months is the hunting allowed in this area and can you hunt big and small game?

Yes but in designated areas. Check NYS DEC eebsite to see tue different zones, start and end dates for the season in each zone as well as info for permits.

There is no "entrance". There are many trailheads where you have a few parking spots. If there is anything resembling park entrance, this would probably be Adirondack Loj. Many high peaks trails start from there. I beleive you have to pay to park there.
