The trails have been beat down from all the use but very nicely picked up from the parks folks ton of debris after the wind and ice storms. I'm sure it's underfunded it could use a revamp on the trails they get a little muddy in the rain. But there's plenty of figure 8 loops around the whole mountain that takes an hour or so, it's one of the better parks in Portland for sure! Great views looking west of downtown, good spot to just get out in the open in the Sun with views by The upper west reservoir as well.

This place is absolutely amazing . I went with my best friend and her and I walked only a quarter of the trails and had a great time today !

Great little hike in the middle of town. Quick and near home for me. Worth it if ya just wanna get a nice walk in but cant drive super far away.

Great short hike and views without going far from the Gresham/Portland area. The bathrooms were pretty good (some wet hand dryer smells) and there is a small picnic area by the parking lot. The trail makes a large circle and it's pretty …

Can anyone tell me exactly how to get to that small waterfall I want to practice long exposure shots?

There are at least 6 waterfalls on mt talbert that I have discovered. I suggest simply begin at Mt Scott creek under the bridge on 117th Sunnyside rd and follow it downstream. You will locate the first waterfall roughly after 20 min hike

Can you walk dogs here?

At several Metro parks they do not allow dogs, because it disturbs the wildlife. Yes, even on a leash. They explain it well on a sign at the park, darned if I can recite it.

Are the trails bike friendly?

Sorry Shelby, no bikes allowed on the trails. There are lots of rocks and tree roots on the path; I'm guessing that is part of the reason.

Why are they cutting down so many trees and clearing the brush ?

B Ellis | Jan 20, 2019
Melinda Dominguez | Jan 21, 2019

They are trying to keep the forest happy by taking out old trees....but they are leaving them in place where they fall for the little critters to make homes in.....😀
