Worth the relatively short hike. It does smell like sulfur when you're there. Adds to the experience IMHO, but if you have a really strong sense of smell, be forewarned. Accessible to kids and elderly, though it can get a little steep. Bring water, and don't touch the springs! It's highly acidic and may burn you.

The Bumpass Hell Trail is the most themo intensive trail on the western side of the park. It took about 2 hours for a non stop round trip hike for about 4 miles. I did it in almost 3-3.5 hours as I went all the way to the trail summit, where you had a 360-degree view of park. I stayed for almost 20 minutes without another soul. It wa see ally refreshing and serene that you have all that space and time by yourself!!! Amazing feeling! I recommend anyone to spend 30-60 minutes when you reach the summit and soak with the feeling of satisfaction. Cheers!

Such a beautiful and amazing place. Easy hike from trail head parking with stunning views.

We went via cold springs which is longer but less crowded. Wonderful views and quite a bit elevation increase. Very well maintained trail and ample parking

Closed for Camping, Bumpass Hell in Lassen Volcanic National Park
These are not hot springs but fumaroles. Way too hot and some very corrosive, so definitely no soaking. Also, Bumpass hell has a designated walkway you must stay on.
I dont believe so but call the park.
no, it's closed through 2018 - see Lassen Park website
There are some boiling pots you can see from the road; however, unfortunately, you DO have to hike the trail to be able to view the main attraction.
