Lots of steps from upper lot yet worth the hike! Blueberries along trail added bonus.

The reward for hiking the Loop Trail from the Lower Trailhead parking area is the sound of rushing water followed by a wonderful view of the falls as it cascades down the side of the mountain. A set of stairs leads down to the base of the falls with a pool and large rocks. The stairs leading up to the top seem to be neverending but are worth the climb.

Leave from the Upper Parking Lot and it is all downhill (and down the stairs) to the base of the falls. Obviously then coming back to the parking lot will be all uphill. The stairs are definitely tough but not impossible. Multiple “rest” points that have a bench along the way for you to take a break and catch your breath if you’d like. Beautiful falls once you get to the bottom. Some fun rocks to climb on if you want to get different angles, but not required to still get a great view looking up!

Wonderful trails! The Stone Mountain Trail has all one needs to have in a trail. The main trail is a loop that has restrooms at two ends of the trail. The northern trail is less shaded, more challenging, and more elevated. On the other side, the trail is more shaded, crosses alongside a river, has intersections with other trails, contains historical points and beautiful falls!

Questions & Answers

Do you have to walk far to see waterfalls? I have a walking boot due to a healing fibula, it is still healing.
