They are currently remodeling the entrance. There are portable restrooms at both the front and back. They are handicapped accessible and very clean. Having more than one restroom is nice for those who want to spend time with their loved ones Plenty of free parking throughout. The grounds are well kept year round. . Each veteran is given a full military service including a 21 gun salute. In my case they spent shells were returned to me in a special pouch. Because the graves are close to each other families cannot watch the actual burial service for safety reasons. The area is surrounded by trees and a breeze often is felt. It is a very peaceful place. There are waste containers at each section, as well as a container where you can take a flower holder to put flowers in. That is helpful as the ground if often hard to place flowers in. There is a welcome center near the front entrance.

It was a wonderful honorable ceremony for my father. Thank you all so much for all that were in attendance and also to all the men and woman who have served and continue to serve our Nation. With the deepest gratitude.

Such a Beautiful place. My Brother was buried there in 8/21. What a Great Tribute to All Veterans

The cemetery is open for visitation 365 days a year from sun up to sun down.
That is incorrect information, the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetary did not switch to all upright headstones. Our veterans (and their spouses) get to make the choice together. Upright headstones are standard in most national cemeteries, however, some have both upright headstone and flat marker sections and in some cases above ground columbarium niches for cremated remains.
Mop
Go to the bldg where the restrooms are. There is a kiosk in there. You enter Your Dad's name and it will tell you where He's located
Have the funeral home complete the paperwork for you. You will need your DD 214. Contact Western Reserve Cemetery to have them set up your honors salute and to pick out your marker. Thank you for your service.
We will conduct burial operations on Veterans Day. The 2nd of November has been set aside for the Ohio Lawn Care Association as they perform a day of community service. That is their way of giving back to our nation's Veterans and their families.
Memorial Day service is always the day before the actual holiday. So Sunday 26 May at 12:00
BECAUSE OF THE VIRUS EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED CALL CEMETERY FOR INFORMATION
All you need is your DD214 and it be an Honorable discharge
I believe they have list of rules on there web site
probably should call them of ask a funeral director
You know I'm not certain but every grave site was adorned with American flag on Monday May 31st 2021🌺
Call and ask.
If you leave a penny, it means you visited. A nickel means that you and the deceased soldier trained at boot camp together. If you served with the soldier, you leave a dime. A quarter is very significant because it means that you were there when that soldier was killed.
Usually there is a program called Wreathed Across America and you can purchase a wreath from them and they lay it. With Covid this year they are not doing the program, you have to bring your own wreath.
It's hard to say at this point. I hope we can.
No you can't per say. You can complete a pre-need application on the NCA website but that is just a verification of eligibility. So in other words while you can confirm eligibility you don't really get to pick a site. Hope that makes sense if not call 330-335-3069 tomorrow they can explain it
I read the floral requirements on their website and they did not address deliveries. Here's the link with the phone number so you can call and ask. https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/ohiowesternreserve.asp
There is a kiosk at the Public Information Center where you can look it up. You can also ask any of the staff around the cemetery during business hours. They would be happy to help you locate his gravesite.
The cemetery is open for visitation from dawn to dusk year round.
You can contact the cemetery and they can tell you. Number is on their website.
The mailing address is Seville Ohio so to keep the confusion at a minimum the physical address was changed as well.
I would say you need a car. I suggest contacting the cemetery website. They are very helpful.

No ma'am. Pets are not allowed on cemetery grounds unless a verified service animal. Thank you for the question.
12pm
I am old fashioned. Jacket and tie for interment. When visiting, casual. I usually wear a hat or shirt from my Dad's Bomb Group. The cemetery is a beautiful, dignified, peaceful place. If you visit on a holiday, i.e. Memorial Day, it is really special and moving.
The Ceremony is Sunday at 12:00 pm. Main flagpole. Saturday at 10:00 volunteers will decorate the graves.
The following link covers the cemeteries floral policy. https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/ohiowesternreserve.asp
Floral policies are located throughout the cemetery. In summer months you may place fresh cut flowers in vase's provided at the cemetery. Potted plants are allowed but only during certain times throughout the year. Please contact the cemetery at 330-335-3069.
I believe it's from dawn to dusk seven days a week you can check their website it's on there too

You have to speak to the people at the cemetery
15-30 minutes
Cheri, go to the website, what I can tell you is that I think every Vet should be in a national cemetery. It's free for the Vet and spouse, the Vet will have a military ceremony. The spouse doesn't, but they get to be buried together. Both my parents are there. They have a ceremony every Memorial day and it's beautiful. At Christmas you can purchase a wreath, and although it's sad to see all the wreaths, in it's own way it's also very humbling.
https://www.wrcwreaths.org
It's open on the weekends
The cemetery has no control or affiliation with a GoFundMe site. No proceeds come directly to the cemetery. My hope is that money makes it to the Wreaths for Western Reserve folks who coordinate with the national Wreaths Across America program for number of wreaths etc. Ohio Western does not keep a log of donations unless that donation is specifically earmarked for the cemetery. I would caution anyone wishing to donate to any charitable cause to do their homework because I sure don't want to see someone's hard earned money disappear into the abyss.
They aren't. Thats been a rumor for a number of years. All casketed burials are horizontal.
Yes the cemetery is open for visitation 365 days a year from sun up to sundown. The admin office is open Mon-Fri from 7:30 to 4:00. If you need to find a grave location there is a touch screen kiosk located at the Public Information Center or you can use google to search on Nationwide Gravesite Locator and follow the prompts for the drop down locations and name.
The cemetery is open 365 days a year from sun up to sun own to visit. Admin office open mon-fri 8am to 4:30pm.
Ohio Western is open for visitation 365 days a year from sun up to sun down. The adminstrative office is open Monday thru Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM.
If you navigate to the nca site and then Ohio Western you can see all the guidelines as to what is authorized, when it's authorized and what is not authorized on government provided sites in a national cemetery. Unfortunately the markers while provided for the Veteran or eligible family member are still considered government property so adding stickers, lipstick and various other things sometimes can require a reorder at family expense. The staff works hard as well as volunteers to keep the markers as clean as possible. If you have questions please stop by the admin office and pickup a brochure that covers authorized and prohibited items.
This National Cemetery like all open ones managed by the National Cemetery Administration serves Veterams, spouses, minor children, and adult disable dependent children it eligible. There are 135 managed by NCA. Not all are open for burial anymore but if you are found eligible thru the preneed program or at time of passing you are not locked in to the cemetery where you live. There are also many state Veteran cemeteries which may have residency requirements.
Sunday before memorial day at 1 pm.
There is a machine that you can use to enter the last and first name, from there you select the name and then the machine will print out a locator map for the grave site. I'm sure during open hours there are people to help, too.
Depends on what they were hired in as. They are wage grade employees and that info is publicly available at the opm.gov website.
If Cremation and inground is the choice an upright granite headstone is used. If the spouse passes first their information would be considered the front of the market. When the Veteran passed the headstone is redone and spouses info goes on the back and the Veteran info is engraved on the front.
Too many
Depends on the way a burial section is configured. Some sections are top and bottom some are left half right half. There is no option for selection it really comes down to a few variables. Standard casket or urn. Using a govt provided graveliner or electing to purchase a private vault (liner) through the funeral home you select.
